IMO, I think it was Gangnam Style, Friday and all the other Ark songs.
All generic type music that is overplayed on the radio nowadays. Those were the worst music trends.
Don't get me wrong, the songs can be good, but since they are so overplayed, they become annoying to listen to and I just want to rip out my stereo because the same songs get played over and over again.

And wouldn't you know it, Hot topic was the leader in pushing the trend onward

i don't really see how that impacts music
those things don't make it a musical trend
gangnam style is as much of a 'trend' as the macarena

trend (plural trends)
1. An inclination in a particular direction
2. A tendency
3. A fad or fashion style
So gangnam style is a trend, and it is related to music.
don't know... maybe Gangnam Style or One Direction.
Signature made by illicit, thank you!

Agreed
I listened to half of one of their songs and I thought I was going to tear my ears off.
That and they ripped off The Clash.
Big Time Rush also ripped off Blur but thats a different story....

I avoid that shit like the plague.
I feel like too much music tries to be dubstep, like they have that grindy shit or some kind of drop,
like the song "starships" by nicki manaj. I hate that song.
Most of the generic music you hear on the radio plus all brostep.
Dubstep/brostep(however bumfodder wants to correct me)
That IE ad with the dubstep made me want to kill myself.

only gangnam style and friday were trends but they weren't particularly impactful to music

Are you saying that because it was so overused or because it's simply never good?
Well everything Mainstream related has always been shit since 2001...
However in the underground scene (or so called,) picked up some great music and new stuff to listen to daily. Hopefully 2013 has more treats for me this year... (Ventana and Circus of Dead Squirrels release... would make the year for me.)
Y u mad tho?

That was 2011.
I think music trends nowadays always involves going to a club or something
Everything. I like "Gangnam Style" and some of the more professional parodies, but the rest were shit.
This is my signature. It is a nice signature.

is music suddenly heading in the musical direction of 'gangnam style'
how many songs on the radio sound like it, huh? not many
it's a viral hit, but not a trend
