The security was really late, that's not too secure the way I see it, he had plenty of time to kill that guy.

Regarding the necessity of that beating... I'd say yes.
To the eyes of the public/audience, he wanted to take a human life, the life of a public figure even.
He deserved a lot worse than what he was given, but a shot to the head with a real gun would have greatly hindered the interrogation afterwards. If it turns out this was a genuine assassination attempt, I would have no problem with seeing that guy executed.

But on the other hand, the choice of weapon, the response of both the assassin and the target makes me wonder if this were just a staged act to gain publicity.
I read somewhere that he did bring two knives as well, so I'm still not quite sure on that part.

Like I said, it really would've complicated the interrogation afterwards if he hadn't.

Also, like I said, that beating was deserved, and a normal human response to the event that occurred.

Personally, I think you're thinking about this completely the wrong way.
A cool, humane approach to this event is to be admired, respected, but a response of the sort you've seen in this video is normal, acceptable considering the circumstances.
These people just witnessed what appeared to be an assassination attempt on one of their respected leaders, and who was to say that this assassin would've stopped at taking out said figure, would they have been next?
How would you yourself have reacted under these circumstances?
The guy lived, and now the authorities can try to puzzle out what really happened here.
