Don't bump your thread unless it's with more art. People will comment when they want to comment, plain and simple.

Did I ask you? Are you a site moderator? No? So shut up, I can bump my thread whenever I feel like it.

Sketch I used to create http://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/372/heart-tattoo
Just a doodle copy of Shane Coss's work. I've been trying to do an octo-skull for a while and he pulled it off really well.
His stuff really gets stuck in my head. You can find the original here.

That's pretty sweet.
Overall your art is very on-the-way-to-somewhere-great (ifyouwantittogothere)! A few thoughts that helped me improve this last year:
Don't think of it as shading, think of it as 'sculpting'. You're using light and shadow to reveal a form!
Drawing is a series of decisions you make, because you're putting down information for others to read. Take your time and loosen up every now and then.
Keep it up man xxx

I feel I should expand on this more
Say you decide to make your lines heavier on the tentacles as opposed to the skull, what does that do? Well it draws the eyes to the tentacles, but as a criticism it makes the tentacles appear harder than the skull (which I assume you don't want). Hopefully that helps you see what I mean about decision making in your drawing. It won't be a conscious thing all the time, don't worry.
also maybe get a scanner!

Thanks! I'm also fond of tinted paper. I need to get more though my art teacher only has really rough pastel toned paper :\
Anyways here was my sketch for the sketchswap. I never got to coloring and finishing my final entry to I didn't enter it. I'll put up here though once I have a picture of it.
