Heroin. Pretty heavy subject for the BBS but has heroin had an impact on any of your lives? Have any of you used or struggled with addiction?

So I'm a teenager living on Long Island. I've never tried this drug myself. My school is full of users and dealers, it's pretty common. A few of my friends who have tried it are newly addicted, have found themselves having a very hard time experiencing physical withdrawals and continued using. One of my friends whom lived in New Jersey choked on his own vomit and is died earlier this year, my other friend's older brother died from overdose last year. I'm honestly very saddened by the impact this drug has had on my life, even though I myself have never used.

Heroin has had a very big impact of my musical taste.

But yeah this girl I work with, her mum died of a heroin overdose. Worst still, was the mother was hooked on it for years, even through the pregnancy of a later daughter, and when she gave birth to that baby, the poor thing was hooked on it too. Had to be weened off with morphine. So the baby got taken away of course for her safety/welfare, and this girl I work with, Claire, has never met her sister and likely will never meet her. Its so tragic really.

Heroin is one of those drugs that doesn't just affect the person taking it. It affects everyone who loves that person too.

Heroin is a huge problem where I live. I never personally tried it, but I watched a lot of people get addicted to it. I think that just scared me away from it altogether, which is a good thing, because I know damn well that I would be addicted to it if I ever did it even just once.

Other than that heroin has played a big part in literature and musicians lives that I like I can't say that heroin has effected me any.

Although I think a friend of mine tried it once, but she didn't like it so she never tried it again. At least I hope she didn't.

Heroin is pretty big where I live. I've tried it and know many people who have, most never became addicted, but I do know some junkies. Most people here stick to snorting, but I know this one kid who got caught with a syringe.
