Recommend me a Superman Please

Ya so I was around during that Superman vs Goku thread either yesterday or the day before and was keeping up with the first like page and a half or so (btw my opinion, Goku wins) and to be honest, I don't really know much about Superman, but I got interested. Now I want to watch just anything with Superman :P but I noticed in the other thread, people were talking about how he's inconsistent a lot of the time or something. So tell me which movie/show appearance is his best so I can get on that shit. I don't want to be watching the Superman equivalent of Dragon Ball GT so gimme the best.

If you insist on watching rather than reading, then Superman (1978), Superman II, Superman: Doomsday and Superman/Batman: Apocalypse are worth a look.

The new Dark Knight Returns film is worth watching as well, but Superman only shows up in part 2.

Should really just go read All-Star Superman or Red Son or something, though.

the best superman stories will have to be read, not watched, unfortunately

i recommend SUPERMAN: SECRET ORIGIN, DEATH OF SUPERMAN, and KINGDOM COME though

those are his three most important arcs (secret origins is just the definitive superman origin story)

legend of the green flame (by neil gaiman) is probably superman's most interesting one-shot (in my opinion, nothing beats the panel of superman crying in hell), if you're looking to just read one issue
