Need some help with a Tween Walk 2013-01-07 20:18:22 Reply

Hey i'm trying to get back into animation, So i've tried a few methods in the past such as bone tool and frame by frame. Bone tool is kind of glitchy if I remember correctly, and FBF takes alot of time, i've attempted FBF but my proportions just seems to always get out of hand.

So now i'm trying doing a walk using classic tweens, btw i'm using CS6. Click below to see what i'm currently working with
My Character / Breakdown
I'm running into some trouble I just can't seem to remember how to do it right. I first assembled my character (all parts are symbols) and then place the pivot points to their correct locations.

So I pivot my parts in different key frames but when I add the classic tween it doesn't pivot it just kind of floats there, I know I'm forgetting something very obvious...I can make it look like he's walking with key frames but when I add the classic tweens things like this happen.

Example

Put your key frames down. Then go back and hallways between those frames reposition each segment. Then go back and cut those Tweens in half again by repositioning. You'll get it right eventually. Also take care to add bounce and exaggeration to your movements

The anchor point on both keyframes of the tween needs to be in the same spot, otherwise it'll snap like that. You can reset the anchor point by double clicking on it. Otherwise, set up the anchor point before making the new keyframe for the tween.

It's just a matter of practice (in both drawing/anatomy and animating), you'll get more satisfying results eventually. With tweens you need to know what you're doing or it'll look unnatural.

i totally just noticed that's what's wrong, good post!

the anchor point(white dot in free transform mode on a symbol) always has to be in the same point.

an even better practice than this is to change the "orientation" or position of the drawing inside the movieclip/graphic/etc
