3.93 / 5.00 4,634 ViewsHey guys! Im an amateur in animation and a huge problem im having at the moment is a lack of line quality in adobe flash. No matter how carefully I try to draw my chracters or outlines, they end up shaky and unappealing. Im currently using a wacom bamboo create and I have been considering switching to an intuos 4 because I hear it can improve line quality. Does anybody have any tips or tricks (on using flash or just general advice for drawing on a tablet) regarding line straightness or smoothness? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
(I use adobe flash cs6 pro and usually use a smoothing setting of 0 or 15 at most with pressure sensitivity turned on)

Push your smoothing to 35-40 and draw faster. The more time you spend on any particular line will cause more shake. If you're doing backgrounds or non animated parts, I recommend the line or pen tool. Perfect lines that are much easier to edit. Hope this helps

Ive tried doing that before but it usually results in gaps and fluctuating thickness in the lines i draw (more fluctuations than normal). Plus drawing the lines quickly like that usually results in redrawing the same line for what seems like hundreds of times. I guess i should probably become more familiar with quicker more precise pen strokes.
There is one other way. You draw your whatever your're drawing. Then you use your pen tool or line tool to create smooth lines over your sketchy drawing. It's double the work but probably will look better

I was a little worried that would be the only solution. Yeah, ill definitely give that a shot. Thanks for the advice.
Try sketching a drawing out at 100% zoom in red or blue or something, then zoom in to 230% and trace over everything with black.

try thinner lines and set it to smooth it should come out ok.
