Actually, Freemasonry does have beliefs which are strongly associated with religion.
They worship and revere a "divine being." In some eyes, this means the "One God" most religions are themed around. Others wonder why the name of the divine being is kept a secret, and assume it is to cover up the fact that it is Satan or Lucifer.

Bottom line is, you don't know for sure, andit isa religious belief.

The requirements to be one are to be a male who wants to join on his own will, to be of good morals and positive reputation, to be the needed age, not to be born a slave, not have any severe mental or physical deficiencies, and to believe in a god. No, they are by no standards devil-worshiping. From what I know on my own research and from Freemasons I know, blacks are not allowed to be normal Freemasons, but are Prince Hall Freemasons. However, most Freemasons I've met were middle-class white Protestants.

Off the topic comment:IRL Knight Templars is an order affiliated with Freemasonry(or a part of it). In the assassin's creed they got nothing to do with Freemasonry they are almost enemies. In deus ex...well masons don't even exist as far as I know.
