ForNoReason is organizing a contest to Create a Newgrounds Commercial. We're tossing in some store credit for the top three and I'm curious to see what people come up with! Maybe someone will make something so amazing that we actually run it somewhere NO PROMISES I'M JUST THINKING OUT LOUD RIGHT NOW. At the least it will be fun to see what people consider the main selling points of NG.

I checked both threads about the contest, but I don't really see anything about rules for it to quality.
I'm guessing its just the usual "must be your own original work" type of stuff right?

Anyway, I am wondering what people will make for a commercial.

Be kind of awesome if it could air on television.

Yeah I don't think there are many restrictions but the most original and creative ones should have the best chance.

Seems like a great way to start the new year, some of the questions in the interview were fascinating and I can't wait to check out the contest entries. If I find the time to do it I might even enter myself.

Oh, and I thought about something else I might just mutter about while I'm thinking on it. Reading the interview, I saw that you said ( if you ever decide you want to go back to it ) Pico 2 would be better off being a 3D game; some little things Mindchamber said here and there also go with that. I personally feel like it would be so much better off being 2D like in the concept art and screenshots you posted all that time ago; it's just so lively, full of charm, and would be a great follow-up to the original Pico; going 3D for a series like this ( to me) seems like it would remove a lot of that charm and gameplay focus, but that's just coming from the ramblings one fan. Done for now.

There are a number of things that have made 3D feel like the best fit... In terms of how I picture the camera movement during boss battles and also in terms of the general atmosphere with light and shadows. There were so many things that became obstacles in the 2D version that would be totally solved and made better with 3D. And this is from a guy who generally only makes 2D games so sometimes you just know when something has to be done a certain way. Although it really would be cool to maybe finish the 2D version as a massively condensed version of what it was gonna be, moving all the problematic stuff into a 3D follow-up... DAMMMN.

I'm loving the direction Newgrounds has been taking, it's always been easy to tell all the staff really care about this place and it's people. Awesome interview, by the way, Tom is one cool cat.

Ryanson: Can you see yourself, 5 or 10 years in the future? What would have become of you? What would have become of Newgrounds?

A: Five years from now I expect to have another console game released and I expect Newgrounds to still be evolving. NG will likely be around for the rest of my lifetime, regardless of how successful it is.

Damn, I was hoping my fake hentai playlist would climb to the top of the views, but LilG's Reincarnation one has pipped me. NG must love the Reincarnation series more than the prospect of porn.

I like how the playlist feature ties in with the friend's stuff, so you can see what stuff they're looking at.

In the future, apart from the plans to make it browse/autoplay through submissions on a playlist, would it be possible to filter results by keywords and whether the playlist contains any movie, games, art or audio submissions?
It may be worthwhile allowing people to subscribe/favourite people's playlists, which could give an indicator of how popular a list is.
