Hello everyone. I haven't visited Newgrounds in forever but I've been looking for a place to showcase my art and build a sense of community at the same time. DeviantART is nice, but you rarely get any feedback or get to talk to people because it's so huge. I started a Tumblr as well, but it kind of suffers from the same issues in that you have to be lucky enough that people run across your stuff and post/reblog/like.

Anyway, I'll try not to dig up stuff from too far back.

These B&W busts and the one before are for an upcoming project I've been working on.

Good work. You have a nice style. Your lines are smooth and crisp, and you have a knack for using texture and lines to create the illusion of depth and shadow. The foreshortening on the last image is rather impressive. The third image could use a little more definition, though. The form gets a little confusing toward the bottom before the black texture starts.

What sort of project are these for? If they're meant to be logos, prints, or something else of that sort, then they're fine. But if they're meant to be regular pictures, then they could use some work on the composition. They all feel as though they have a lot of empty space, which is fine for prints or logos but not so much for regular drawings.

Whoops, I should have checked to see if there had been more posts before hitting posts, as you posted another image while I was typing. I should clarify that by last and third images, I mean the last and third black and whites.

Thank you. They're meant to just be some profile busts. Just something to introduce the character and give a feel for thier personality. I'm working on a web comic that I intend to start up before the summer. It's a sort of space-western and each character has a special ship of their own so there's been a lot of design work. I'm designing and making quick mock-ups of the ships in 3D and writing the script at the moment.

Your line art and basic shading creates a stunning effect. It shows a sort of drawn-with-a-pen effect. It seems nice and neat. I noticed you have few colored works. In my opinion your uncolored art is great with the smooth texture of the lines. The perspective has also added up to your works success. My main concern is how you use font combinations and styles to blend with your background. This is especially evident in your 4th work of art. If you are planning to blowup the size and make it a banner, this will be your issue. Other than that, your work is great! Oh, and just a friendly tip, before posting your work, sign it first or at least add a minor watermark. :)

Lately I've switched to an 11x17 in canvas at 300 dpi so size wise I'm not too worried about it (I used to work at 600 dpi, don't know why I even thought that was necessary). I've never liked signing my stuff but I know how important it is. I guess I've just never seen my art as steal-able and it doesn't help that I think my signature looks like crap. Thanks for the comments. I do need to work on my colored pieces more. It's weird, I find it daunting at first but once I get into painting a piece it's hard for me to put it down.

What's the general consensus about posting WIP? Don't bother or go ahead?

I always post the sketches before the full piece, it's useful if anyone can give some advice on what shoulld be changed before coloring and lining it in, so why not?

This was an environment piece I did a couple months ago. I just posted a thread asking for some resources on helping me develop my landscaping skills (which I needa lotof help on). I have more recent ones but I'm not sure if I can post them or not.

Nice work! Those game backgrounds look great. Your linework stuff is really crisp, do you have any more color or animated stuff or anything?

I do, but I didn't want to post anything too old here. There's a link to my DevArt in my profile that has some older stuff with color if you want to check that out (but I think I can do better than what's there :p ). I'm almost done with another colered pic so if you like Chrono Trigger you'll like my next piece. I've always wanted to delve into animation but I haven't experimented with anything more than a trippy background.
