With another raise:

It's more the principle of the thing but you would think Obama would realize this was a pretty f**king awful decision. Why not wait until the country wasn't sinking itself with debt to start giving monetary pats on the back to people working for the government?
Ugh.

It says Federal Workers in general, meaning the post office workers and highway police will get a boost too. Which is a good thing because the private sector is doing fine in terms of creating jobs, it's the public sector that's been contributing the most to unemployment albeit at the state level.
Other than that this doesn't make any sense but it doesn't seem to be that much money.

Why would you blame this on Obama? Congress determines their own salaries without Presidential involvement.

Not really, Obama issued an executive order instituting the raise actually.

I hate police officers. They shouldn't get pay raises. They should get shot.

No, he didn't. The EO ended the freeze on the pay raise, that doesn't mean he gave it to them. That's beyond his powers. Congress turned down the pay raise anyway.

We can't afford enough public sector jobs, so let's...spend more on existing public sector jobs?
Makes perfect sense.

Okay, maybe they should ignore you if you need their help, then. I know there have been lots of stories and footage lately of cops abusing their power, but they're not all like that. I've met plenty of good, forgiving officers, even ones that let me off the hook a few times when they could have arrested me.

I wasn't arguing the pay raise made sense in that regard, I was saying that public sector jobs though are the part that's dragging down our recovery because too many are being lost.
