Any DAW that you are comfortable with works. Some people, like Avicii, use Fruity Loops because it's fast to use. I've tried out Fruity Loops and Ableton (what Skrillex and Mutrix use) and all I can say is that I prefer Ableton because it's simple and everything is there. It just fits my way on working on tunes. As long as your DAW accepts VST plugins (like Logic), it's all good. Best of luck on your tunes!

Fun fact: Logic only natively opens AU plugs, but they have an AU wrapper that opens VSTs =)

@OP: But yeah, I was joking before. Most every DAW has every function. It's just whatever you're used to and enjoy using that is best for you.

It's a great program, and very close to Logic Pro. The only downside to Logic pro is that the automation that you can pencil in with the mouse are very straight, and pointed. Digital Performer, Cubase, FL Studio and others have better automation. Logic is amazing, I just wish their automation would be a little more flexible...

I'm so down with FL studio since I started a year n a half ago...only thing is, jsut because I'm still discovering new htings and I'm sure I haven't even gotten to know half the program, and it's poissibilities with sound are infinite...I haven't yetb othered to try out ableton T_T, I hear ableton is downright the EASIEST, BEST and LEAST CPU HUNGRY while MOST USER FRIENDLY program so far.

But I'm stuck with FL cuze I love it (and hate the amount of cpu it eats)

I almost didn't respond to this, because I borderline FL Studio fanboy, lol, but from what I have seen, the program itself is really up to the preferences of the artist. I strongly recommend that any new music producer should try some demo versions of the programs available, just to get the jist off how they feel. But for me, I definitely enjoy Fruity Loops.

There is no such thing as a "best" DAW. If you using Logic Pro 9 and you're used to it by now, then you should keep on using it.

No. You should upgrade to Garageband.

Logic is my favorite... But I can't say much because I have only used Logic and Garageband. But from other peoples opinions, I hear that logic is the best. But it really is whatever floats your boat. :P

Yup, it depends on what you feel comfortable. And you don't really have to stick to one daw only, I know someone who use FL and Ableton together. He really loves the piano roll in fl but he prefers to do the mixing in ableton because he's more comfortable with the mixing plugins in ableton.

There isn't such a thing as 'best software' :)
But i guess if you do alot of remixes and live-shows, ableton or fruityloops might be easier to use than pro-tools or logic. I prefer Logic 9 as well.

lol if you only have a demo of fl studio, I don't htink you would stick to it, took me 5 months of constantly tinkering with shit to even figure out basic 4/4 structure stuff (which some poeple lear in school and with research...yes...I learn better by doing)

another 3 months to even think I made SOMETHING worth listening to at least once....and even then I didn't even understand wtf the filters and the other stuff was...soundgoodized the shit out of everything XD

if I couldn't save what I did I woulda given up after the first week.

I've used FL Studio and Ableton. In my opinion Ableton was extremely more user-friendly than others.
Everything is just so simple once you do some of the builtin tutorials.
Ableton already has built in Plug-ins so everything is already there for you. :D
