So BBS, what are the musicians you listen to that don't speak/sing their songs in english/whatever your first language is?

Being a metalhead, a big one for me would be Rammstein. Another not so well known one I absolutely love is Korpiklaani, a Finnish band.

I'm always looking for songs in other languages but I can't find a lot that are compliant with my shitty taste.
Anyway
Spanish
Rey Gordiflon-Colombian Ska
Mojiganga-same
Puya-Puerto Rican rock
Melendi-Spanish pop
Los Cafres-Colombian Reggae
Los Rabanes-Panama Ska
Then Pignoise, Stop the Noise, Dikers, Cliper, Los Pericos and some other garden bands I need to check out further
Japanese
Funkist-the best jpop band
Bump of Chicken, Hitomi Takahashi, Yuka Iguchi, akb48, StylipS, ClariS, Crystal Kay, Gollbetty, Skull Candy, kotoko, stereophony, midnightpumpkin, supercell, unitedmonmonsun, Jasmine, Utada, Muramasa, Shigi, Thelma Aoyama, and some other moon people whose names I can not assimilate

I've been searching for Italian, but I can not find a single song that is not centered around spaghetti

The only one that I know more than one or two songs by is Kaizers Orchestra, a Norwegian band.

I know a few songs by other bands like Rammstein, a little Mexican rap, and of course Gangnam Style, but that's about it.

I listen to a lot of foreign stuff. In my collection, I have music in Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, Faroese, Icelandic, Danish, German, Russian, French, Spanish, Portugese, Japanese, Romanian, and Greek. I could be forgetting something.

One of my favorite bands, Solefald, has lyrics in English, Norwegian, German, and French.

Yes, I'm aware that they've been called that. That doesn't make it true. They're rock. And don't throw Wikipedia at me. Wikipedia isn't very good with getting genres right.

At 12/22/12 09:30 PM, KillerSkull wrote: Industrial metal is metal silly goose.

They're rock. Rock =/= metal. And I've heard people who are passionate about industrial music argue that they aren't even industrial, but I wouldn't know. I'm just throwing that out there.

If you want real industrial metal, check out this stuff.

I checked all that stuff out, and for the most part, it is good. However, I can't help but notice that all the bands you listed (except for the last one, Sybreed) are--while still industrial--crossed with something else (Thrash, Black/Death Metal.) Which brings the thought to mind that just maybe, you look at industrial metal and expect it to be heavier because you listen to the heavier variants. That might not be the case, hell, probably is not, but still is something I notice.

Oh, and for the record, when I look into a band, I look farther than Wikipedia. Despite what you may think, I'm not retarded.

Industrial Metal is a combination of Industrial music and metal. The metal part of the equation is characterized by down-tuned guitars and choppy, repetitive riffs. If you don't know that this fits Rammstein to a tee than you obviously haven't listened to a lot of Rammstein. The electronic bits of Rammstein may be lighter than in actual Industrial, but it still fits industrial even if only loosely. And if you think that Rammstein is rock, of all things than you just have problems.

Although it is not universally accepted, it is largely accepted that yes, Rammstein is industrial metal. While Rammstein is light, it is still industrial metal and at the very least is metal of some form. And I leave you with Sehnsucht.

Really? I figured it would fall under Deutschpop or something. :P

Don't misunderstand, though; I like Rammstein. I also like Eisbrecher, Laibach, and various other Germanic performers whose names elude me. I just tend to think of them as industrial first and metal second. I also enjoy the occassional Finnish metal band (Terasbetoni comes to mind), but I don't listen to that on a regular basis. Mostly I like global music shows that take a little bit of everything and mix it together.

true. There's also Dimension F3H, Godflesh, early Pitchshifter, and other stuff, but I don't listen to those that much.

Which brings the thought to mind that just maybe, you look at industrial metal and expect it to be heavier because you listen to the heavier variants.

nope. I also listen to traditional heavy metal and a bit of power metal, and some other less extreme metal.

Oh, and for the record, when I look into a band, I look farther than Wikipedia. Despite what you may think, I'm not retarded.

lol okay. sorry.

Industrial Metal is a combination of Industrial music and metal.

I know what industrial metal is, man.

Go to the Metal Hell and ask the guys there. Not one single person there will agree with you. But it's not a big deal. Rammstein is pretty good, regardless. I especially like Engel.

Where are Bumfodder and Mothballs when you need them?
