Melancholia is a gorgeous one. Bad science or not i loved it.

Beneath the Planet of the Apes.
The movie is not really about the end of the world, but that's what happens at the end.
I can't say that I've seen many that are that good actually. But I guess War of the worlds come close enough being a good "world ending" movie, even though they're going to be kind of okay.
Other movies that touch upon the subject of the world ending doesn't really take place during "the end of the world" but rather before or after. Such as Terminator 1 & 2 (because fuck 3 and Salvation) they take place (mostly) before "the end".
Planets of the Apes takes place *SPOILER* after "the end".
So I guess "world ending" movies aren't my thing really but rather the ones leading up to the "the end" or the aftermath.
Heads or tails?

Ah yes Melancholia is amazing!
Try "On The Beach", it's a little old but i really enjoyed it. Depressing but with more optimism than Melancholia.
i liked apocalypto. it's about the prediction of the mayan world ending, which is thematically appropriate since we're expecting the mayan apocalypse now. there's also some aztecs involved mostly doing stuff which aztecs did back then

Knowing, The Matrix, I am Legend, The Book of Eli, Zombieland, 9 and WALL-E.

i didn't say it was about the mayan calendar. don't put words in my mouth, especially when you're such a potty mouth yourself

That movie wasn't about either one of those two things. Nice trolling attempt though.
i haven't mentioned any specific prophecy or the mayan calendar. without spoiling the movie for anyone else it was definitely an important theme and even explicitly shown in the final scene. while it shouldn't it still might be hard for young people to notice. they tend to get carried away by the copious amount of action scenes unfortunately also present in the movie

Week-End, by Godard is more about the end of civilisation/consumerism than anything else but it's fucking wicked.
Stick around and you may see the best one yet.

This is my signature. It is a nice signature.
I loved Melancholia too.
I also liked Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, which was released earlier this year. I seem to be one of the few who liked it though.

I`m pretty fond of The Day After Tomorrow. I watch it once a year.

Just go with the selfe explanatory 2012.
Simply unzip your pants and start jerking it to CG explosions and bar stereotypes.

He said GOOD world ending movies, genius.
I'm going throw Silent Running into the suggestion box. It's more the aftermath of an apocalypse than the apocalypse itself, but it's a good movie for its time.
