You guys seen it yet? I saw it Thursday, fairly solid film. I'd give it an 8/10.

It was also the only book I could actually force myself to read in the series.

Don't fucking bother, HFR is the worst thing in the world and you will hate it. Basically, the framerate makes it look like a cheesy daytime soap opera from the 80s, if that makes any sense. It feels like a chintzy TV show.

Can't wait to see this. I can watch Lord of The Rings regularly still and I love it. Hopefully it's somewhat the same..

Not going to watch it in theatres. I'm not going to support the studio's bad decision (and the general shitty trend in the movie industry lately) of splitting it into multiple movies.

lord of the rings and the hobbit were written by a satanist cult leader who donned the moniker "tolkien"... i wouldn't recommend anyone watch this as it will negatively influence your mind. i give this movie 0 stars out of 5 possible, as with all satanic movies

That needs to be used in one of the movies.

Or just give him a part in a movie.

I think of the nickname my primary school friends gave Bilbo - Dildo Shaggins.

Might watch this in cinema. Then again I really just want to see Smaug on the big screen, so I'll watch The Desolation of Smaug.

I'd give the same score and no, I haven't read the book. It's good on its own, but the original trilogy is so much better. Star Wars prequels anybody? Speaking of Star Wars prequels, there are two more sequels to this. It seems like they could just adapt the book into one movie.

I've watched the HFR version. It takes a while to get used to. In the beginning it seems like the film is played in fast forward, but after fifteen minutes or so your eyes get used to it.

After that I honestly didn't see that much difference compared to regular 24 FPS. I've heard the movements on the screen are supposed to be a bit smoother, but the difference is very minimal.

I thought that the Hobbit was a very good film, and after you got used to the HFR it wasn't that big of a deal anymore. The ending took a while to pick up, but apparently the book was slow to get going as well. Bilbo Baggins was expertly cast and acted and he should get an Oscar nomination for it.

I thought it was very well done.

The high frame rate wasn't an issue for me at all. I don't see why everyone is so disturbed by smoother movement, it wasn't even distracting. The only complaint I actually have is the heavy use of noticeable CGI in the film, I found that more distracting than the "sickening" frame rate and 3D.

the book is barely 200 pages (and each chapter past the introductory ones feature some sort of large event) and you could probably read the entire story in the amount of time it takes to watch the film (1/3 of the story)

lotr is slow to get going and fast-paced on film, but they went for the exact opposite with this

Good for the guy from The Office. But I am not interested in this type of story at all.
