I was just recently reading about a school shooting survivor on reddit and then I saw on the TV what people say "could be the worst school shooting in history" or in the USA.
It seems like not much is known about this currently, but there will probably be some more information soon.

Yes, and when you look at the article I've linked above it seems like there have been lots of school shootings this year. Still it's almost not like the media cares, and then how are they going to be prevented?

I don't think there's a way to prevent them. Somehow, kids can get there hands on guns so easily. To be honest, kids can get there hands on anything.

I think you should have to go through a metal detector, or something of that nature before you walk into the building. They did that at my sisters highschool, but her school was a school for hardasses. She got kicked out of my highschool for bringing alcohol. Why the fuck would she do that, she couldn't wait until she got home to have a drink? Or atleast she could of drank it before school. Shes been graduated for 3 years now though. ANYWAY, we need some sort of metal detectors installed.

People aren't born fucked up and without getting into a massive discussion about this though murder is never justified in any circumstance a lot could have happened to those men to lead them to the events that followed. This is preventable. A few years ago I thought of columbine. I even told my counselor and got reported because of it.
School was and even though I haven't been back for awhile still is very hard for some people. You're forced to go to a place full of people who say terrible things to you day in and day out while no one takes you seriously.
One of the reasons these things continue to happen is because of people like you who just go "People are so fucked up" without questioning why people do these atrocious acts. Sure, it's safe to think that you could never imagine what it's like to think like a killer or a rapist or someone of that nature but we need to grow the fuck up and investigate what makes people this way and how we can prevent it.
Again, it's bears repeating; I don't condone columbine or even think it's at all ok on a personal level, no exceptions. Please try to see where I'm coming from.

What I don't want to happen. With this tragic incident, is a political rally for gun control. We need to focus on making the schools safer. For the kids and the teachers, getting rid of guns won't solve the problem. Guns, unforgettably will be around even if we do try to ban them. What, we need. Is better security. Metal Detectors, background checks. A plan so this will never happen again!

It doesn't cost much to hit someone with a baseball bat. However, I suppose a lifetime in jail would be the more humane option.

I think the old school ways is best:
Drop him in the middle of the ocean on a single wooden raft with a hook, line, and pail. If he survives and escapes, then he's free. If he survives and is caught later down in the road, then he spends the remainder of his life in jail and doing free labor.
