Thoughts on Rap? Personally I feel way too white to enjoy some rap as much as I do. But I also don't listen to much.

How can you express your opinion on an entire genre if you've only listen to one artist? That's like saying I didn't enjoy EDM having listen to one album of Deadmouse. That's pretty ingnint bra.

Rap isn't my favorite genre, but it seems like the most poetic genre in music, which makes it awesome in its own way.

I've been getting into it recently. I've been listening to a lot of Wu-Tang Clan, Geto Boys, and Ghostface Killah, and I have a small list of other artists in the genre to check out. I like it a lot more than I used to.

It made more sense in my head.

Rap is good only when it's done right. Known artists like Enimem know how to rap. His raps are amazingly done.

Eminem is one of the few rappers who I can't stand. Slug is the only white rapper so far that I've heard who isn't annoying.

I am sorely tempted to make an arrow to the knee joke and involving reddit.

I just enjoy the lyrics and music styles. Unless you're listening to the n**** n**** n**** fuck whitey rap, I don't see what you mean by being too white.

I love rap. I like all kinds of music, but rap has a special place in my heart and I like "deep" rap. But honestly, for some reason the more ignorant and "n****ery" (word I've heard) the music is the more catchy it is and the more I enjoy it.

I don't understand why rap and hip-hop are two seperate things. Rapping is what people in hip-hop do unless they only dj.

That's exactly what I said. Those aren't serperate things. Rap is what people do within the hip-hop genre. Why do people want me to repeat myself.

There are very few I've seen that actually use instruments. There's either a dj or they just play the music on the the speakers and a guy raps. What else do they do?

They do the latter, why would they need a dj for that?

Alright, for the sake of the white kids on NG, I'll run you through what a modern urban DJ does.

This is all based on 1017 Bricksquad's DJ, DJ Holiday. DJs vary, but this is as 'standard' as it gets:

- Runs Commission Music Group (this involves signing artists, marketing them on-air, and other business stuff)
- Hosts mixtapes on a near-weekly basis (this involves providing intros to songs and making the audio watermarks that some new listeners of mixtapes find "annoying")
- Is a regular DJ for Streetz 94.5 in Atlanta
- Often tours with Gucci Mane/Waka Flocka and sets up audio equipment and etc
- Helps his mixtapes artists get features (secured Fabolous for Gucci Mane's I'm Up, for example)
