I think they should be allowed to. As contradictory as it sounds, women do serve in combat. They aren't allowed to, though. Because of this they are denied promotions that their male counterparts can get, even though they are thrusted into roles they technically shouldn't be in anyways.
Thoughts?
A lawsuit is in place to change this, by the way.
I think women should be allowed into combat. I can't see any reason why not, aside from gender barriers..which may be washed out with training (I have no experience in the Army so don't take my word for it)
I also believe that women should have equal rights regarding promotion..gender shouldn't matter as long as the act(s) worthy of promotion is(are) performed.

Oh my god promotions have nothing to do with it, why does no one READ the article written by a FEMALE soldier.
historically the right to vote for men was contractual, meaning you had to register for the draft and potentially put your life on the line in order to vote.
Before that you had to own a certain amount of land.
Why am I mentioning voting?
Because since the onset of the suffrage movement there was no reciprical contract for women. The is no draft for women and historically those women in the military have not been in combat roles.
I think these things go hand in hand. If women want to be in combat, (lord knows why) then we as women should register for the draft and finally make good on another right we obtained for free without having to pay for it in blood as men have had to. That is if we truly want to be "equitable".
Personally i think it's insane.
I thought there was all this controversy about gays not being allowed into the military or at least something to do with that "don't ask, don't tell" thing. There is seriously a problem with women serving in the military? I'm surprised more rights activists aren't into this, but I can tell it's not that big of an issue. Of course, they should be allowed into combat, just like any willing (or drafted, I guess) person.

Kellz you make me think of SST joining the infantry for citizenship =p
The real issue has always been how different sexes react. And their differences.
