So, about a week ago I decided to go on a diet. I didn't really need to because according to BMI and people I asked I was a normal healthy weight. But, I used to weight about 20 pounds less than I do now (I'm short... twenty pounds less made me pretty scrawny).
Anyways, I thought that dieting would be miserable but it isn't too hard. I'm already adapted to my ways, and my body isn't feeling hungry or even wanting me to eat much already. I've been trying to eat only 1,000 calories a day and you'd be surprised how much you can eat and stick to that if you pick the right stuff. Abandoning sodas and snacks probably cut 500 calories a day by itself.
Anybody else dieting or have a successful diet story? I hope to reach my goal in two months and I don't think it is going to be that hard at this pace.
went from 155 to 149 pounds in just five days. 130 is the goal.

I don't go on diets. I don't feel that a temporary change of lifestyle is going to help my long term fitness. I mean, here I am, sitting here, posting stuff on the BBS...

I eat light meals now and I walk every night. I've completely cut out shit like chips, cookies, soda, etc. I've also been trying this thing where I don't eat at all after 6 pm unless I forget to eat dinner or something before then. It's been working out well. I'm down about 14 lbs since I started this. I feel good.

I totally agree but mine isn't so much of 'a diet', more of a change in my overall dietary food intake. About 2 years ago I totally stopped eating red meat (replaced it with chicken and fish only) and stopped eating all cheese (this was hard) but I lost 25 kgs in about 4/5 months. I dropped from 125 kgs to 100 kgs and that is still my current weight.

Yeah I forgot to mention that I've been trying to cut out red meat too. I've accidentally eaten red meat twice this week but I've been pretty good about it otherwise.
I refuse to give up cheese though.

When I started dieting it was going really well, now my body has adapted to the changes I've made and so I need to make more changes which is actually proving hard for me to do right now. It doesn't help that a part of me feels like giving up, like I can't go further and without that motivation to better myself I feel the battle I've fought so well for so many months is finally going to beat me.

I understand your refusal to give Cheese up, I absolutely love Cheese. It was extremely tough for me to give it up but due to my cholesterol problem it was the simplest thing to remove from my diet to aid with my cholesterol problem. I also changed from Full Cream Milk (4%) to Light Milk (1%) and now my cholesterol has dropped from a shocking 11 to a nearly acceptable 6. Being that 3.5 is excellent, 4.5 is good and 5.5 is considered high. I'm getting it down slowly but surely. Still 25 kgs is a lot of weight to loose and I no longer have Moobs.

I know that feel bro. Once a girl asked me if I was a swimmer. I thought that was an odd question and she said it looked like it because of my shoulders. Me in a tube top is a totally icky sight. I do like that I gain muscle easily, and that's one of the areas I'm stronger. But yeah, no slight or slenderness in the shoulder area for me.
The sig that I'm wearin? Awesomely made by Skaren!

I should probably add that several months ago, I weighed about 135 pounds. I felt a little heavy, so I decided to lose most of the weight I put on since I was last weighed; I started running. I was 124~126 pounds when I was last weighed before I gained those 10 pounds of fat. Now, I'm mostly back to my normal weight.
For a period of time, I weighed about 116~118 pounds when I was in the 10th grade because I was running daily in preparation for track season. I looked very thin then.
If you want to lose weight, you should try interval workouts; they're highly effective.

I don't think that it is a bad thing. It is even more exaggerated on me because of my height and all that. I know when I lose a few pounds and start working out I will look muscular pretty quickly. Thankfully I seem to lose weight quickly and have a hard time putting it on. I only gained about 20 pounds in two years despite eating snack cakes like a motherfucker.
I know the feel.

You're still using the BMI calculator.
Everyone in this thread is still using the BMI calculator despite how thoroughly horrible it is.
Why.

Adjusting your diet is actually MUCH more effective when losing weight is the only concern. And, I am not that out of shape.
