Chat Permission?

I attempted to say something in the chat feature, and all I got was a message saying that I don't have permission to post. Does this mean I'm banned or something? If it is a ban, is there a way I can check how long it is or what it's for? Nothing really comes to mind as to why this might be, so I'm kind of left in the dark here.
If anyone has any idea what this means, let me know. I've concluded that it's probably a ban, but I still would like to know if I can check why or how long it is. Thanks!

Well, chatting I suppose.
I don't use the feature too much, so I'm not terribly distraught by this. Like I said, nothing really comes to mind as to why I'd be banned. I would just like to know if this is permanent, or if I can see the reason.

Yes, that message does indicate that you've been banned from the chat. I'm the one that banned you, and the reason is because you admitted to being 12. I didn't question you but did happen to see it. You need to be at least 13 to partake in the community here.

Oy...in looking back at the user report I got in my inbox this morning, it looks like you got caught in the crossfire, but I still banned the right person...someone else.

Even though having such a message seems like a band-aid to having a full chat, I'm pretty impressed that Rob was able to throw this together, even if just for April Fool's (or was it Liljim?).
