Your E-persona... Nov. 30th, 2012 @ 06:35 AM Reply

Do you change your character online to be different than you do offline? Also, if yes, how and to what degree? Also, why? I really don't. I come as I am. I never saw the need to be someone I'm not really in real life.

How do you guys handle it?

That's good man, I appreciate real people and not the people who change themselves just cause they online. I just meant that you'll see some people who you see on here where it's like THERE IS NO WAY THEY ACT LIKE THIS IN REAL LIFE. You know what I mean or even some people might only act slightly different using the comfort of being a username and not face-to-face where as they might feel more ballsy or whatever the case may be. I can see maybe using NG as a stepping stone for building up confidence or something else positive, but I really have a lack of respect for the user who pretends to be someone else.

True, but also, that could just be a different dynamic and not a change in your character. Like just in a different setting outside of the real world, but you handle it as true to yourself as you can and you're okay.

Lol man, yeah I mean I've known you for a very long time and I've seen you to be a real person without the bullshit if that means anything. So I've always had respect for you.

I don't have an "e-persona" or anything like that.
I don't act like something or someone I'm not.

Same here. Up until late 2009 or early 2010 I acted like a black extremist and I hate remembering it.

I always try to show off as a big and tough guy who is totally badass. But the reality is I am an overweight 35 year old virgin living in mom's basement who plays Final Fantasy and Dungeons and Dragons all day.

Do you go around forcing images of yourself onto other people in "real life" too?

I don't put on some kind of personality act online. I just type what I'm thinking. I'm generally a pretty pleasant, laid back person when I'm not staring at a computer screen and I'd like to think that's how I come across online. I guess being a forum moderator means that some people will see me as a bit of an asshole at times because I tell them off for doing certain things. That's not down to my personality though, that's just because I'm expected to enforce rules to some extent.

I'd say I'm about the same, except I probably take more time to think out my posts than what I say in real life. I still come off as a dumbass either way, though.

What's up with that

I'm just as 2-dimensional in "real life", if not a bit more so.

The few people who purposely twist how they act online certainly wouldn't fucking admit to it so this is kind of a moot question anyhow.

I don't need to change my persona - I feel more natural as me, especially when you consider that this is how I act at the various meet ups that I've been to.

Yes, my cock is really this big - some Newgrounds users have actually seen it.

Same. I'm more serious and mature online than I really am off the Internet. I try to be sensible most of the time, but I do like to have a bit of silly fun.

This is not related, but this picture makes me feel that humanity is slightly restored.

I am nicer online.

Mostly because I can actually delete and edit most of the things that come out of my head, in person I don't have that opportunity and I have had those moments in which I regret opening my mouth at all.

Oh well, deep down I'm an ass. I guess.
