4.18 / 5.00 15,525 ViewsLately I've been having a graphics problem with HL2, every once in a while namely specific areas when I load it, the shading screws up and goes completely absent, it also affects other parts of the game. Also, the skybox sometimes screws up too, I've tried varifying my game cache and even reinstalling, but they both didn't work, I think, help?
What shitter of video card do you use?
And if it's not a shitter then you just need to update your drivers.

it wasn't like this before

You should still try updating the graphics drivers through Steam.

Well unless his computer is ten years old, I highly doubt his video card can possibly be that shitty. Even my laptop is able to run Half Life 2 perfectly fine and it can barely support any (graphically intensive) game of the past five years.
So yeah, it's probably a driver problem.

LOL, it got worse, this is more than likely due to a system restore I did back a couple months ago, I'll try completely deleting everything hl2 related in my computer and reinstalling it.
also, I doubt it's my gpu, it's runs other newer Source games like l4d2 fine with no problems.

Go back to your auto-aimed Xbox 1 copy of HL2 if you don't want to help.

Is it JUST Half Life 2? Have you tried messing with graphic settings?

Yes, the shading and shadow settings are set to high, it only does this on a few areas of the game, it didn't do this a or so back, though.
It's not his PC. It's the game. I had it happen to me, and I googled it and it does come up on other forums. IT's a pain in the ass. If you search hard enough you'll find a fix.

Uh, I installed my latest drivers and reinstalled the game, didn't do squat.

I used too have this happen, until I found out Jesus was a Transformer who turned into a PC.

I just tried HL2 on my Windows 8 PC and it works perfectly fine.
Looks great too.
