Thanks!

Arc the Lad 2
Odin Sphere. Best story ever written for a video game. EVER. It's that good.
Golden Sun, Paper Mario, Chrono Trigger, and Fallout 3 are good ones to try.

The same people also made a game called Muramasa: the Demon Blade. It's an awesome game with really good atmosphere.
Kotor 1&2
Mass Effect Trilogy
Dragon Age 1&2
Fallout 1, 3, and New Vegas (haven't played 2)

Do you have a specific console in mind? If I just scan through the RPGs I've played on Xbox 360, there's a few and I thought most of them were pretty good:
Blue Dragon
Dragon Age: Origins (Ultimate Edition)
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Anniversary Edition)
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Eternal Sonata
Fallout 3 (GOTY Edition)
Fallout: New Vegas (GOTY Edition)
Lost Odyssey
Mass Effect
Mass Effect 2 (not played 3 so can't comment)
Two Worlds (not many people liked this, I did)
Two Worlds II (totally different from the first. maybe worth checking out)
I've also got Star Ocean: The Last Hope and Infinite Undiscovery sitting here but I've not played them yet. I think they both look like good games for their current selling price.

Tales of Vesperia is on sale at newegg.com right now for 15.99 with free shipping. Go get it now if you have an xbox 360.
Of course I would also recommend playing the other games in the tales series as well that have come out in the last 10 years. (Symphonia for gamecube, Abyss for PS2/3DS, Legendia for PS2*Note that I have not played Legendia yet* Graces F, Dawn of the new world)
Realistic baseball MMO game if you like baseball you will love this.

I wish it was on sale somewhere in the UK at that price. I'd buy it in a heartbeat! Unfortunately, it seems to be one of those pretty uncommon JRPGs on the Xbox 360 over here and used copies still sell for around about the price that a new copy would have cost on release.

You get a sexiness point
Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, Paper Mario, Final Fantasy VI, and Parasite Eve.
Of the Final Fantasy series:
Final Fantasy I (GBA)
Final Fantasy V (GBA)
Final Fantasy VI (GBA)
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VIII (it's love it or hate it though)
Final Fantasy IX
VI and IX are especially awesome in my opinion. Final Fantasy IV might be good too, but don't get the DS version. Final Fantasy II is not really worth playing in my opinion. Don't know about III or anything past IX.
Final Fantasy Tactics is good too, but might not be the type of game that you're looking for. Avoid Crystal Chronicles for the Gamecube, it's mediocre at best.
-----
Earthbound
If you're looking for something different than the tons of JRPGs.
The Elder Scrolls series
If you're looking for games with hundreds of hours of content which you can play non-stop for months without even having finished everything. I suppose the first two are quite outdated by now though. Morrowind is still play-able, but Oblivion or Skyrim might be the best one to start with.

I can go on and on, but if might help if you told us what system/console you want to play an RPG on...

Dark messiah. An unheard of, mind wrapping and realistic RPG game.
I am always correct till I am proven otherwise.
Mass Effect Trilogy
Dragon Age 1&2
Fallout 3, Vegas
Elder scrolls Oblivion, Skyrim
Final Fantasy VII-X dont bother with anything X+ especially XIII
Crystalis. I've been playing it a lot recently, and it's loads of fun.
Any of the Mario ones. They're all easy to get into and fun.
PSN ID: DMANSLAND, Wii number: too lazy to look up, Manliness level: GODLY
I second the Fallout and Elder Scrolls games.
But, really, Arc the Lad is pretty underrated as far as turn based games go.
Skies of Arcadia (Eternal Arcadia)
Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
Final Fantasy, especially 4/6/7/8/9/10/13, also 2/5/12 but less so.
Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door
Dark Chronicle (Dark Cloud 2)
Summoner 2
Pokemon Crystal
Dragon Age Origins
Legend of Dragoon
Breath of Death VII (Short indie)
And many more I can't recall at this second.
When this post hits 88 mph, you're going to see some serious friendship.
