A lot of girls I talk to listen to some form of metal or another. Thunderhorse, Animals as Leaders, The Contortionist, System of a Down... What I find rare are girls who seem to have a particular affinity to metal. Almost all girls I know listen to metal -occasionally- but I don't think I know anyone whose first choice when listening to music is metal.

Fucking mallcore kiddies seriously. Most "Metal girls" are mallcore kiddies to be honest, I mean everytime they call a nu metal band a metal band it makes me laugh like hell. I havent heard anyone calling rock bands like ACDC metal though.
I know a small handful of ladies who listen to doom and sludge but I don't know anyone else at all who listens to black/death metal. It's kinda sad.
Metal shows aren't the most inviting place for women although I was at a Decapitated show recently and maybe a quarter of the crowd were female, mainly girlfriends humouring their partner and loitering at the back. That was exciting for a time.

But to be quite honest around my area that isn't so rare, a lot of guys will also frequently listen to shit like this and think they're the most br00tal d00d

If only. I live in Brighton and there is no shortage of pretty 'alternative' looking girls but beyond the polka dot dress they paid too much money for and the '50's style flash tattoos they paid too much money for, I have met very few girls who have an active interest in metal beyond kerrang.
Although I must say I have dated a few metal cuties and they were all flakey idiots only interested in being the one pretty girl at every hardcore show they didn't care about.
