I find it alarming that this man is anywhere near a position of power.

The old testament was wicked. I heard allot of talk recently on here about Islamic religion and how it is so evil when the Old testament is just as bad. This guy is text book Fascist as he try's to usher in the Utopia by the word of God and the Christian right wrapped into politics. These fanatics in expensive suites are the people destroying this planet when will people wake the fuck up.

Whoever this Charlie Fuqua is, he's someone who's more then willing to get rid of the Wall of Separation between State and Religion, he's like one of those people who shouldn't even be allowed to have a position of power. Hard to believe someone like him would even come that close.

I will agree with leanlifter here. This is pretty ridiculous, although I say that in a narrow way concerning this candidate specifically.
Aside from the fact that argument is premised on canonical texts (which are illegitimate as a source of law in the United States), there is still the SCOTUS decision barring the execution of juveniles, no matter the reason.
I will say, however, that this is indicative of a larger problem within the Republican Party. The GOP is so entrenched with Evangelical Christians that they simply refuse to acknowledge the existence of separation of church and state. This is not true of all Republicans, but is certainly true of many, especially at the national level. As a registered independent and a believer in a faith besides any form of Christianity, I can say that if a Republican candidate emerged who broke away from the religious right and was actually capable of forming good policy on secular merits, I would vote for him. I looked strongly at Newt Gingrich in 2012, as a matter of fact. It was sad to see though that he had abandoned many of the positions he had at the dawn of the 20th century.

Correction: dawn of the 21st century... Newt wasn't alive at the dawn of the 20th century, haha.

I think he's talking about the comments on the article page. If he wasn't, that would be one huge Freudian slip he just made.

Thankfully, it seems like the GOP are trying to distance themselves from candidates like this guy (at least according to the separate link found on the article). And sometimes my relatives wonder how Obama got reelected into office. It's because when stuff like this happen, it spreads like wild-fire and scares off the Independent voters (like the "consensual rape" GOP dude).
Yes, I am also aware that the same voters probably prefer Obama's policy better then Romney's anyway.

Because much the GOP is connected with the Evangelical Christian segment of America, it's no wonder why most everyone on the fence during the election ended up voting for Democrats. While not speaking for all Republicans or Evangelicals, if they want to ever compete with the Democratic party and overtake them down the line, then they need to start distancing themselves from the Evangelical Christian population, considering how toxic their reputation is over the last couple of years.
Sad thing is, the GOP most likely won't abandon the EC segment anytime soon, and it's probable that the Republican party could be fractured because of this.
Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

The ironic thing is that US was founded on the premise of a Republic and Republican governmentry for all states within it's Union LOL.

Sometimes politicians will make an outragious claim not because they really support the idea but because they know it will get them on the news. Basically its a cheap tactic to get publicity
