Secession of U.S states?! 2012-11-11 21:33:16 Reply

http://now.msn.com/15-states-start-petitons-to-leave-the-usa

Looks like history repeats itself, most states on there are southern and the civil war had alot to do with the whole rights for african american folks and other causes, im white but not racist to another person regardless of skin and I understand Obama has not done much besides being the first dark colored president but that cant be said for all folk of the same color.

The states listed in this poll sound like they are just having a hissy fit and it is really stupid, we here in the U.S.A have alot of problems but we have strength in numbers, the loss of these states may make other countrys prone to want to attack us with weapons (way more than the middle east have) and if not other countrys then we could have another civil war again!

United we stand, divided we fall! Where secession begins starts the basis of a new civil war. This is just a reverse of the civil war where it seems people in the south want to secede from U.S because of our president, If its not the color of Obama that matters to this secession then its how little he has done to do things for the country and that say but a BETTER salution to get rid of Obama is to IMPEACH him then to just depart from the U.S. We cannot let ourselfs be vulnerable to other countrys. Again UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL!

What are your thoughts on the matter?

Insane racists file petitions for this kind of shit all the time. This Michael E shithead does not represent those 15 states in question and it's completely meaningless.

It has Oregon on the list, and I can attest that there is NO WAY Oregon will secede just because Obama won

Yeah, and Quebec will secede from Canada. Scotland will secede from the UK. Etcetera, ectera.

These are just a bunch of nationalists punks. If they hate the country so much, they can move somewhere else.

This is simply nothing more than a joke that is made and supported by the fringes of society, and the only people who would actually support this crap are said fringes of society, and the people who are bribed by them to sign a petition. I can't begin to understand why now people want to secede from America because of Obama with such furor, but then again, I probably imagine that people wanted to secede from the country when Bush was president and so on down the line.

Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

If this really dose take place and more states start to consider the idea of seceding from the nation, we will more then likely be in for another American Civil War.

If it dose happen then I have no doubt that it will be MUCH more uglier then the last one, it just won't be a very pretty sight. I even bet Russia intends to regain military dominance if this happens.

Funny you say that, we have some Russian spys in our system making some mess of things. Some were cought like a couple months back if I recall right.

Greedy people, corrupt government, brainless followers, man as great as this country is there are alot of people wanting to ruin it and then there comes the people who dont use their common sense to realize that we need to stick together.

So many people/countrys that want to take the world cause of the greed they hold in their hearts. Annoying how people fail to understand how much havok the cause other people because of their own wants and needs for themselfs.

That's pretty sad if you think a Civil War is even an option at this point as it will be a Civil slaughter by the Police and Military. My advice to you and any other would be "Patriot Toughs" is to put down your small arms if you value your life especially if you have dependents. This time freedom will be earned not through "Lead n Red" but by way of intelligence and realizing the signifiers of a sinking ship.

I see nothing wrong states wishing to secede. If a state feels in can fulfill its needs and feels that the federal government can no longer support them or themselves, then that state has every right to secede from the Union and establish itself as a new country.

I think you're right; it certainly seems like history repeating itself, to me. I remember back in '04 when Bush won re-election, there was a very common sentiment (both on here and various other parts of the internet) by those who didn't vote for Bush that they were going to move anywhere else beside America, sooner than continue to stay here and be associated with those of us who did vote for Bush and a continuation of his policies. The only difference between then and now is who's on the losing end of the election. They won't actually do it, they just want the attention their bitching and complaining gets them.

Although, I do find it odd that it only takes 25,000 signatures on a petition to get a secession considered by a President. Seems to me that in a state like Oregon you would need more signatures than just 0.65% of the total population of 3.8 million residents to get something like that considered, but that's me thinking again, and we all know how dangerous that can be. >:-D~

Two reasons why this will never happen.

1) Posse Comitatus. This was an act signed into law after the Civil War (as a show of good faith) that expressly prohibits the military from being involved in actions against the general populace. To violate said act would give the general population plenty of reason to rise up against the government and secede.

2) Our army and police forces are made up of volunteer forces. How likely do you think it is that they would willingly act against a general population that is largely made up of their friends, family, and neighbors? How likely do think it is that they would instead refuse to fight, or use their expertise to fight along side their families and assist in an overthrow of the government?

Weapons would not be an issue, afterall, there is one gun in this country for every man, woman, and child, remember?

My advice to you and any other would be "Patriot Toughs" is to put down your small arms if you value your life especially if you have dependents. This time freedom will be earned not through "Lead n Red" but by way of intelligence and realizing the signifiers of a sinking ship.

Don't you have some moose to be tending, right about now?

This makes me think the Election was fixed when States like Jersey, New York, and Michigan are doing this as well. It really doesn't make sense how the President won Re-Election when every internet poll I seen had Mitt Romney winning by a land-slide including Yahoo's own poll. Unless, President Obama Supporters don't know how to use the internet I shouldn't have seen polls say 57/43 for Governor Romney. That isn't even close.

This Country is corrupt. I don't trust the Government, they lied about Benghazi and I believe the Election may have been manipulated/fixed in President Obama's favor.

It's literally unfathomable to TheKlown that Mitt Romney lost the election. I almost feel bad for him, but then I read more of his posts.

It is possible that those internet polls were made of people who couldn't or didn't vote in the real elections. A lot of people think giving their viewpoint on the internet counts as voting.

Look up Nate Silver's blog in the New York Times and prepare to get butthurt as he used statistics and information from every reputable poll to predict that Obama's chances of victory on election night exceeded 90%.

I think unlike in the case of Bush 2004 where the talk of leaving was mostly melodrama, Secession or at least the talk of it will become more attractive within the next four years.

The reason being that the USFG is stuck choosing between a tax-induced recession or a past-the-point-of-no-return debt crisis. [I'm of the opinion we're going to get both] Neither of these two outcomes are favorable to the cause of "National Unity"

I Harbor no delusions about an anti-statist secession tide being motivated by some libertarian ideological renaissance, I simply observe that much of domestic federal spending is oriented towards the states as political entities. People either support "The Union" out of some misplaced sense of self righteousness, or out of a selfish recognition that they get more out of the feds than they pay in taxes.

A debt crisis or a recession changes this dynamic, It doesn't need to be the case that government spending is lower than the tax collections for this to happen, it only needs to be the case that the taxes produce more discontent than the free lunches produce complacency.

When the various satellite states overthrew the Soviet Union, it wasn't because they had all read Hayek, it was simply a combination of discontent and momentum.

Colorado's proposition was the first instance in recent history [That I know of] where the people of a state essentially gave the feds the finger, even if the move was just symbolic.

Other states have certain provisions saying they will secede if the Federal Government does any one of a number of things, such as instituting Martial Law or trying to enforce a federal assault weapons ban.

Obama would never allow it, even if it was initiated by a Northern state like New Hampshire which, ironically, voted for him.

Yes, Critics of secession will call pro-secessionists Racist. And guess what? It probably will be to some extent. Democracy produces racial conflict as self interested and racially conscious groups vote to seize the property of less racially conscious and self interested groups. If desire to protect the interests of one's race at the expense of another, however subconscious one's formulation of that desire, is racist, then so be it. I'm a racist, and probably so are 99% of all people of all races.

Not that this formulation of racism has much of anything to do with the desire to deprive others of their lives, property, and free action.

To the other 1% , I say to you, the price of appeasing your sense of self righteous piety is too high. And society's toleration for it will fall as their situation becomes increasingly desperate. Nobody will care what names you call them if they are desperate to the point of leaving the Sacred Union.

The part where, according to right wing websites, Obama won over 99% of some counties and some had a total of over 100% voter participation. Of course, given the nature of things like this, I could easily see it being butthurt republicans, or one of those things the media absolutely refuses to comment on due to their own private agendas,

I saw this article on Yahoo, and in the comments many were saying the people who support this need to leave this county. Those who support socialism need to leave this country also because you're too lazy to work for your money.

But like I said before: It didn't matter who won. Socialist or Fascist. We were fucked either way.

This country is dead.

Implying that Obama is socialist and Mitt Romney being a fascist, which is extremely off-base considering that both of them are moderates. I can't seem to understand why people love attaching these buzzwords with people, when clearly that's not the case. That doesn't mean that Obama or Romney were spectacular choices for President necessarily, but they are nowhere near the labels you put on them.

This country is dead.

I disagree. But according to the secessionists, it might as well be.

People from 27 states now want to secede and are making a deal out of it. Texas is the first to reach the minimum requirement. I'm not feeling too good about this at all.

It'd be funny if nearly every state started petitions for their states to secede. Redundancy on that level would be hilarious.
