Hey fellow n00bs, lets get together and make a flash game! i dont have any standards for quality, i just want to get something made and posted on here. I'd love to program (and learn additional code as i need to) and if i could find any people of ANY level who could write, animate, voice, or program with me, that would be awesome. I'm not going for money on this, and any takers will probably not get rich off of this either. I will give credit happily. I see this as a team learning exercise that I hope will be pleasant to play later on. I use AS2. I use Flash CS3.
This sounds like an awesome idea. If you wouldn't mind another programmer I'd happily join. Even so, don't sign me up just yet... exams are coming up :S I just really want to get working on something though yano? If I get a decent period of free time, you'll definitely see me posting
I'll be a writer but as the other person I have exams in a few days but I will be able to do pretty much anything after that.

Oh my gosh, I totally thought nobody would read this! Okay, well I'll be happy to accept the writer and programmer and game designer, and I think it's awesome that someone else thinks it's awesome. Fair enough on the exams, I'd be happy to wait.
I'm far from a n00b. I'm actually a professional programmer for a few years now and I taught myself coding the hard way, by using forums and buying books. Sure would have been nice to have an experienced coder to shoot off some questions now and again. I'd like to pay back to the community if you guys will let me.
I can probably spare a few hours in my weekends to review and give some pointers about coding and project management. Again if you'd like, doing stuff the hard way can be a greatly rewarding learning experience as well.
Oh, and I strongly suggest skipping AS2 all together and go for AS3. They're about as easy/hard to learn and AS3 gives you much more options and learnes you some OOP principals which you can apply to other languages.

Its kind of nice seeing someone actually serious about something on here.
i was a project manager for a game, and people had things to do, it wasnt important to them. but anyways. i have scripts, voices already set for a character. and music. plus a narration by Jack Angel. only problem is, this was made for a fighting game. but igf ou wanna collab ideas. and get this thing done. im in!

I guess since I'm basically part of this now (or so it looks like it), I should give a little bit more info about myself. I'm a first year university student in Computer Science: Video game Development. I know what you're probably thinking at this point, "First year? He wasn't lying about being a noob..." Maybe true I admit, however, I'm confident in my skills and I just about always keep trying until I get something working when it comes to code. Also, I like to think I'm not the typical first year uni student when it comes to programming since I've made a few things on my own before university (been programming since around the age 15). As for languages, my forté is C# (I've spent most of my time in XNA). As a requirement for school however, I've been getting pretty good at python (but this is only for the first semester, from next semester on we'll be using Java). Now, NEWGROUNDS related, I'm sorry to have to admit that I don't really know too much actionscript, but I've made 2 simple things in flash using as3 over a year ago (an archery type game, and a failed attempt at a story based platformer) so I'm convinced that if I'm forced to do it, I'll be able to get used to actionscript pretty well. As for other talents, I guess I'm pretty good at coming up with ideas for games, I'M NOT ARTISTIC WHATEVER (maybe a little but I take forever), and I can play music (piano, ukulele, drums, little bit guitar). I live in Ontario, Canada, for if you wanted to know about time and such. Also, aside from this, I've started working on a game with my artist friend (that we've stopped for exams that are soon, but we'll resume right after).
Another thing I wanted to make clear was that I may not have any time to do much at all in the next couple of weeks since I have to focus on school, but I'll obviously let you all know if I'm free to do anything.

As I said I'm extremely new to all this (made my account not even an hour ago) so I might need some guidance for the first few days on how things work. Sure! You're just gonna have to let me know how exactly I can send you voices. As I've said I'm fairly new to this (only decided to actively pursue this today) so... Is there a certain website I use to post my tracks? Or anything? Or do we do Skype? I can do a deep male narrator voice kinda? Just give me some lines and I'll see what I can do. :)

okay, so i have been messaging with Forsaken about his game, and i figured that it would be a seperate project from this newb thing. but if you guys want to use this game for this project then by all means.

forsaken's game seems to only need programming and animating done, though. voices and story are already just about set. thats why i think it ought to stay seperate. i sent spruceGoose an idea for a game story i had a looong time ago, and i can post it here too if you guys want, but im just saying.
oh and elephly? dude... maybe its just me, but i have 0 degrees, and am technically a high schooler. don't worry about education.

okay, all these tabs i gotta keep open to talk to all three of you i find inconvenient. I highly recommend you all getting gmail accounts so that you can use google drive, which is great for collaborating on projects.

Hi jacket funk. Nice name. Currently I am focusing on city of champions, which already has music, but the other game being discussed on here, currently referred to as team newb, is kind of on hold, since some of the group is taking exams, and the writer is, as far as i know, between accounts at the moment. They suggested an escape the room game, which I'm sure could use a music track, so... If you're willing to wait, and the group members all eventually come back, then you're hired.
I can help with art when I've sorted my collaboration all out ;)
