Aren't you glad this shit show is almost over?

Well, don't be, because this is just the beginning! This is the stage of democracy where national politics begins to molt it's ugly transparent skin to form a new ugly hideous monster. Prepare for 2 weeks of spin from all the media outlets and the new and improved (!!!) rhetoric from the political camps. After that you get to look forward to down ticket races, congressional gridlock, more reported rhetoric to fill a 24 hour news cycle, budget talks, the phrase "fiscal cliff," and so so SO much more!

But for now, we focus on the present. Right now it's 5:20 PM and the exit polls will be coming out shortly. Here we'll cover the results as they come out, discuss voter turnout, voter fraud, voter intimidation by the black panther(s), comparisons to the 2008 election, possible paths to victory, and general election related headlines that come out between now and the end of this circus show. This only happens once every 4 years. The average life expectancy is 78 years. You do the math. Pay attention! Go out and vote!*

*who cares if it's statistically meaningless it makes you feel good

Here are some resources you might want to check every now and then:

Results:

Politico
NYT
Network Calls

Voting Information (find out when and where to vote).

Live news feeds:

C-SPAN (make sure to listen to those wacky callers!)
PBS
FOX News (your go-to place to watch if Obama wins)
Al Jazeera (for left wing Muslims. Like Obama.)

These are all the legal streams available thus far.

It's also worth checking out Nate Silver's blog so see Obama inch ever closer to 100%. Or fall down to 0. Who knows?

Thanks for providing those links. I'll make good use of them.

I was listening to Sean Hannedy's radio show(I do it for entertainment sometimes) earlier today and he believes that Ohio will be going Republican this year because people have been calling in from that state reporting extremely high turnout in Republican counties. He also expressed his reluctance to believe in the exit polls there showing the two candidates virtually tied, so far.

Sean Hannity is so lovably stupid.

Why vote when it's a 4 year dictatorship you are voting for.

Well CNN projections inform me that Romney just won Kentucky and Obama won Vermont.

That puts Romney at a lead by 5 points.

That's the usual trend.

The Republicans get a big surge with the first few states. Then the NE comes in and gives the Democrats a surge. Then a stalemates as the eastern part of the MW comes up. Then another Republican surge with the Prairie and Mountain states Finished by a big Democrat push with the West coast.

I'd like it if my thread wasn't clogged with teen angst bullshit so I'm kindly asking everyone to not apply to leanlifter. Thanks!

I'll try to keep this updated every half hour/hour depending on the speed of the official results coming in to the networks. There will be another flood of results soon so I'll get this on quickly.

Indiana, Kentucky, South Carolina, and West Virginia are being called for Romney by most networks (no surprises here, all solid red states) with CNN being the only one as of right now that I know of calling Georgia for Romney. Nothing exciting yet.

Vermont is projected by everyone to go to Obama. Wow. Shocking.

As of now this puts the score as 3-33 for O/R respectively. The real fun starts with FL, VA and OH.

Let me just put this out here now so there's no cheerleading later on: Ohio, Virginia, Colorado and Florida will probably flip back and forth multiple times tonight.

CNN is projecting ME, MA, CT, RI, DC, DE, MD, IL for Obama and OK for Romney.

Puts EC as 62-43.

Ask aviewaskewed to see if he'll comply with a 30 day ban for bet losers.

I'll be the first: ban me for 30 days if Romney wins.

Florida is going to go long...may not officially close for aother 2hrs because of the lines. Prince William County in Virginia is staying open until midnight. Another key swing state...so probably going to be a long night.

When the electoral voting is what counts, doesn't it ever feel a little... pointless?

I had VT as red on 270towin so this is wrong, below is correct.

CNN projecting GA for Romney. Wow!

EC now 65-56

FL is really fucking close. It's over if Obama wins it, and there's a very real chance he might, but I won't bet on it.

So far nothing is really surprising...all the safe to call states for both candidates are being called. The ones I care about are:

NH
Pa
Ohio
Ia
Co
Wi
Va
NC
Fl

Of the toss-ups I think Nevada and Michigan will probably go for Obama. Missouri will go for Romney.

From the sound of it, Elizabeth Warren will probably beat Brown in Mass for the Senate so that is a Dem pick-up.

I feel paying attention right now is pointless but I just can't stop myself from watching it. Mainly because early voting data means nothing, I mean I saw a poll in South Carolina with Obama leading with 70% of the vote (Obama was still shown in the lead when the state went to Romney, so it's confusing it seems, but I'm watching it on Fox news so who knows).

We should summon a demon to murder the person we don't like, which is by the way exactly what X and Y are doing right this instance. VOTE RICHARD M. NIXON for president and this wouldn't be a problem, but no. Where are we going to go if he dies? Mr. Prescott won't be happpy.

Floridia has about 60% in, less than 100K votes seperating the candidates. So far Obama is leading in this state. In many ways Romney would have more paths losing Ohio...than if he lost Floridia.

Nothing unusual, I'm going to go ahead and call California for Obama. Along with Washington, Oregon, New Mexico, Minnesota and Michigan.

Utah, Missouri, Kansas, the Dakotas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana...I'll also call for Romney.

According to my count Obama is leading the EC count 201 to 191. ;)
