Jyehhh got my gundam completed! I have updated my robot project for school, I have changed up his model and textures. The environment has changed also.

Eight Winds concept- I'm going to develop all these characters as a practice for understanding character creation.

The general idea is revolving loosely around a band of 8 fighters from different fighting styles and personalities. I'll try to give each character a historical contexte, however they will belong to the same epoch.

what resolution are you working these in. I think you would benefit from working at a higher resolution, and using higher contrast shapes (solid black works best for me). cuz right now it seems like you're having trouble applying details to the designs due to low res.

They're at 300dpi, 11 x 8.5 - at this stage I'm only applying enough details to understand the separate elements that make the character. All the tiny details will be added in the third step where the silhouettes will be larger. I'm testing out the work flow with these steps.

The image size is reduced due to newground's constraints.

Practicing painting depth is fucknig annoying and frustrating especially when I'm still a big noob at it, but when it's finished it feels damn good... Sometimes I wonder why do I even paint if it's so damn mind pinching lol

The colored version looks really nice. The lighting you did has a nice soft angelic look to it and I love that you got the texture of the clothing to wrap around the body. Her face is also very well defined, you definitely spent time on that part. It seems as though you tried to get the right side of the body to face the viewer, and that's creating an awkward twist in the figure that seems unnatural. The breasts look a little off as well, but I think that's because you painting the clothing as though it were climbing up under the them then coming down. Unless she's wearing a catsuit, I would imagine the clothing would fall down from the highest point in the breasts creating a sort of tent-like form.

Also, I know it's old, but I really loved the Gundam you made up there. I just recently got into 3D modeling myself and looking at that thing was inspiring. It's just so clean and the details you put into it are nice discoveries when you're exploring it in 3D space.

You're right about the perspective, as for the body, I had originally painted her nude to practice painting forms aswell- I publish these images on my facebook and there are kids under 13 on my fanpage lol so to keep it PG I slapped some clothes on the painting.

Eight Winds Warrior WIP

I finished the second variation of the Warrior class for my Eight Winds project. I'm not too fond of the way the warrior turned out but I'm trying to make the best of his design instead of restarting it from scratch. It's quiet a challenge.

Thanks! Yes I have been studying it for a semester so far. I couldn't simply live with 2D while 3D was on the rise lol

Can anyone tell me how my Vegeta vs Hulk picture doesn't show up in the Art portal. I noticed today that it had a score of 4.77 yet wasn't in the art portal :/

As long as the voting ability is there, it's in the art portal. However, there have been some glitches as of yet, and that could be the reason why.

WIP - havent posted in so long. Been recovering from a bad nerve injury. Fell on my neck in Judo and suffered an injury to the brachial plexus leading to pins and needles and numbness my right arm. Now my left wrist which was already screwed from break dancing is giving me shit and my right hand is spontaneously going haywire on rare occasions.

Anyways, here's a work in progress of an in game model for class. I finished modeling Hedvig Karakas in zbrush at 1.4 million polygons, did the retopology in 3ds to reduce her head to 1700 poly including the eyes. Created all sorts of maps to make the low poly look high poly. Now the teacher said the hair we have no limit but must use polygons wisely. This is my 620 polygon hair.

Still lots of work left to do. The coolest part of this class is the teacher is the secondary character modeler for Deus Ex Human Revolution.
