Morals and ethics in research are outdated. They are keeping us back. By law in the U.S. and European union, and several other countries, you are not allowed to research human cloning. Infact, most research involving changing humans in anyway is not allowed. Why not? Because of "ethics and morals". Why are we held back by our humanity?
If we didn't restrict ourselves by the tethers of morality and ethics we wouldn't have any problems. We might even have human cloning or ways to increase human functionality. But because we are too humane to open up a human who's still beating or modify our genetic coding, we are never going to advance much in research of human genetics. Think of all the things we could do if not for this problem, we could work on things liike:
-Modifying the human DNA to decrease likelyhood of cancer or other genetic induced diseases
-Do human cloning
-Make other planets habitable
-Fix the mess we've gotten ourselves into with Earth
But until we grow up in the field of science and just stop giving a fuck we're never going to truly succeed in the research that really matters.
What are your thoughts on this sensitive subject?

Anyways, we can dabble with science on such a level because we're getting to a point where we have no choice. We have perfected most things we need/want to live our lives with, yet we can't cure the common cold, we can't make ourselves stronger or more resistent to things, we can't inhabit other planets, we can't stop over population, we can't/won't design human beings. Why not? What's the point in avoiding change?

No I had no idea. I usually correct other people's grammars because I give the greatest amount of fucks over that. Thank you for pointing out this serious blunder. I should probably check more closely in the future so maybe with some practice I might one day be able to stop embarrassing myself as such.

Even if you can't justify cloning you can't argue with some of the other research. We could control our genetics, we could DESIGN humans. How much better would the world be?
What's the appeal of human cloning?
Large portions of the world are overpopulated... millions of people go to bed hungry throughout the world... 8% of Americans are unemployed. Why do we need synthetic humans to add to the problem?

Designer humans will cause problems. Couples looking for a "designer baby" will need to shell out probably several hundred thousand dollars. Therefore, the poor who can't afford it will be left to procreate the good old fashioned way with their inferior genes. Designer babies will do nothing but bloat the gap between the rich and poor.

Reproductive cloning isn't likely to be legal for quite some time, the vast majority of humanity just isn't comfortable with it. You're just going to have to respect that. It's a shame that therapeutic cloning is still restricted in the USA and UN, I think that the sheer amount of untapped potential in regenerative medicine is worth the pursuit.
People would probably warm up to the idea of reproductive cloning if there was an concrete advantages to researching it, other then vague promises usually made by people who don't really understand the topic.
"Designing" humans doesn't actually have anything to do with cloning. Geonome sequencing is well underway and genetic engineering, while still a long way from being a commercial venture, is completely viable and completely unrestricted, despite the frequent ethical controversies surrounding the idea.
It'll be interesting to follow that.
Terraforming is not an ethical or moral issue, suprememessage. I can't think of any reasons to fund such a development outside of scientific curiosity, though. And Eco-salvaging is firmly supported by most of the developed world, why is that even on the list.
Either way this topic isn't very well thought out. Next time, try researching your topics before you post them, there's a wealth of information not covered by whatever you saw on the evening news (and it goes without saying that epiphanies are best filtered through a combination of existing facts and critical thinking). Better luck next time.

If you allow scientific experimentation on humans where will it end? One thing will lead to another, what may seem like a good thing to allow now will only suit to allow scientists to slowly delve deeper, using the fact one thing is legal to experiment another similar one until you have humans being farmed for grueling experiments.

Terraforming has several reasons.
First off, we can't continue living here, we are over populated. So terraforming will be a solution. Basically, more planets means more places for people to be and less population density. Meaning terraforming will solve our problems with over population completely.
