3.93 / 5.00 4,634 ViewsHello my fellow homo sapiens. Iv been wanting to break into the animation scene for a while now and i finally been saving up money to buy new equipment to start my animation projects. The problem is that i have some old beaten up pc with loads of virus's with outdated components. I know a bit about pc's so i have no problem upgrading ram, memory,etc... i just wanted to know what are the current programs you guys been using? I use to use macromedia flash and i was able to get it free back in the day(*cough*keygens) . But now i dont know if its the same thing this day and age. back in my day i use to use a mouse to draw all of my animations because i was like what 12 years old and didn't have a job. now i have a steady income just i want to know some good pointers to start up again and what do you guys use? do any of you use macs now instead of windows? are you able to make animation with a simple hand held tablet now? I feel like a old man now and have no clue where to start. it would really help a lot to know what you guys use and range of money invested to start up. thank you for your time!

i don't use a mac, a mouse, or a tablet, but i seem to do okay
i have a hybrid laptop with a stylus. on-screen drawing FTW
you'll want flash or toon boom. get a trial and don't mention keygens again.

Haha, my bad ill try to improve my typing. I just wanted to know whats the latest programs you guys been using. And if i should just stick with windows because i know that mac's don't support macromedia flash. or if there's any other programs out there that you guys would recommend.

when i tell you promise not to shit your pants okay?
$125
can't you WINE flash 8 on mac? and the CS6 suite is usable on mac so get that trial from www.adobe.com
There's no law that specifically says you need to be using a mac unless you just prefer them. I suggest using a pre Adobe version of Flash (Macromedia). There's also a bunch of free programs out there that are pretty decent like Synfig Studio (http://www.synfig.org/cms/)
I would also suggest getting a cheap tablet off of ebay or something for starting out or else you're going to have to work on paper
I suggest you get a subscription to Flash, for 20$ a month. You could also get a free trial for Flash.
Use Adobe Flash, With a PC and a Tablet and off you go

that's pretty narrow focused.
