There are plenty of people here who use programs other than FL Studio... Ableton and Reason are a couple of the more used DAWs on these forums as well.
I use FL Studio, but I also use Reaper.. mostly for recording live instruments.

Doesn't Finale Notepad count?
I rarely use it, but doesn't I stop completely.

I use Garageband, Logic Pro, and some Massive for my DAWs. Then I combine the use if over 20+ Aus and VSTs.

FL isn't the only DAW that's used on here (:. I think pretty much any DAW is used on here, and I guess FL just is the most chosen DAW, since it has sufficient features for the beginner and for the pro. (At least, that's what I've heard)
I started with FL, but have used other programs, like Ableton, Cakewalk, Cubase, Nuendo and REAPER. So far, I've got a huge preference for REAPER, but due to a lack of proper MIDI control, I use FL Studio to edit the score, convert it to MIDI, and transport it to REAPER.

Melody Assistant (first) -> Reason -> Sonar -> Cubase (currently).
Woah, theres a lot more people who use programs other than fl studio then i thought.

Just to confirm that, there are discussion threads for a lot of major DAWs other than FL Studio here at the Audio Forums. Yes, FL Studio is the most familiar with a lot of users (including myself), but there's a place where people can answer any other questions related to any other program.

I use REAPER too though I've never had issues with MIDI. Care to enlighten me? I may be missing out. ^^

Yeah, got to find the one that suits you. I tried a few others first including Sonar, Reason and Ableton. When I tried REAPER it just made sense to me, like it was made to do what I wanted to do.

I think he means that reaper has no score editor. It's easy to work around if you use multiple midi channels and sends per track.

I explained it wrong, I think. I meant to say that I have no proper MIDI keyboard (except for a broken one) or anything to work normally with REAPER. It's too bad it has no score editor like FL, but I guess there should be a way to do that anyways.
Ah yes, I see. Well I use the Piano-roll so that's fine for me. It's an interesting feature for someone who would use it. :)

I also use Ableton Live. I wouldn't recommend it for any kind of organic sound. It is geared more towards electro, and techno and stuffs. ^.^
I personally use it mainly for a platform to use my VST's. It has a wonderful mixing system, and is very user friendly. I have never really tried another software though. I have seen the videos on the net for reaper, and other software, but just from the first 5 minutes of the videos, I could tell that any other software out there is just making it harder than it has to be. At least for me, I am not sure how anyone else would feel about it.
For drums, definitely go with Addictive, or Superior 2.0. They are pretty pricy, but, the reward will last forever. (Providing your computer will not get the chance to finally taste bacon, and then subsequently go on a rampage through out Europe to satisfy its craving, leaving you with no drum files.)
... O.o
But that might NOT happen?.....>.>
Good luck finding the VST for you!!

I find Ableton Live's logistics are easy to pick up on. I've used Ableton for a few months now, before I explore some more sophisticated DAW's.
renoise and milkytracker, for better or worse. I also use a little ableton live launchpad edition and FL on the side.
.
Modplug, with an occasional use Adobe Soundbooth CS5 for special effect creation, recording, and general sample destruction/creation.
I actually got a halfway decent drone/rapture horn effect by yelling into my shitty mic and applying gobs of effects and time and pitch distortion.

I love Renoise so far. Also its ability to convert VSTi to instruments and samples are priceless! I find Milky is hard to use and I don't like the playback. The other tracker I use is Modplug, Jeskola Buzz and sometime Buze (I use Linux OSs more than Win stuff).

Personally I think Modplug is enough for everyone. It blends with classic tracker's setting by sticking with 4 legendary modules (IT,XM,MOD & S3M) while has the VSTi function. Plus awesome playbacks too! Renoise's playback on Impulse module is a pain in the butt. Modplug all the way!
