LOL! You noob! You got owned by the Jam!
That's a tough call. Honestly.
For me, I was a fan of Halo for years & only just recently started to play the GOW series. I am yet to play GOW2 or GOW3, however I do have them & intend to start playing them once I finish GOW1.
The game play is rather similar in a lot of ways, however I do feel like GOW does have more strategy behind it, which makes for a more challenging & interesting game all around. I guess if I had to choose though, I would have to say Halo just because I find more joy in playing Halo online with others than I do with playing GOW online. Idk if it has to do with the people who I've been playing with (good chance of that) or what have you... but, thus far that is my choice.
Ahhh... wait. Let me get more specific with my answer here. If we're talking online gaming then it's Halo, however... if it's a solo game & single player that I am rating then I would go with the GOW series.
Once again, back to my first line of this reply... that's a tough call. Honestly.
Gears has a much higher skill cap than Halo does. You can tell who is good and who isn't in Halo, but in Gears the people that get really good at the game just straight up decimate those who aren't. That is one thing that makes me lean towards Gears even though I love Halo.
Girls just wanna have fun.
Gears of War has some weird-ass controls, in my opinion, that takes some getting used too, but Halo, it's controls are pretty easy to master. I think Halo's controls are becoming more like CoD's, because of the sprinting and crouching.
sup.
I find the mechanics in Gears of War to be boring, although it did perfect the 3rd person shooter formula for what it's worth.
Halo I find to be more entertaining though neither have a particularly big or interesting "skill gap" to write home about.
Well, Halo was actually good, so...
I once played Halo for a few hours and couldn't be arsed with it anymore.
I once played Gears of War for 2 minutes and wanted to erase the shit memories from my mind.
Halo wins that then.

I like Halo better since Gears is just big guys, big tits, and even bigger enemies. Halo is in my opinion more detailed, better characters, and good sound. My only problem with Halo was basically Reach. When it comes to Xbox 360 exclusives (not including games like Fez which is an indie game) though I like Forza 3, Dead Rising, and Left 4 Dead ( I know it's on PC and Mac but the only console it's on is Xbox 360.)

and crouching.
crouching.
Are you for real? Having a crouch button doesn't make something like CoD.

Gears of War has an ongoing history of being a superduper broken series that only gets more broken everytime there is a Title Update. Horde is always fun though. The new Judgment game is already disappointing a lot of hardcore fans with announcement of no Down But Not Out, no Locust in multiplayer outside of Overrun, and the suspicion where the developers avoid questions like "Will there be Horde? or other modes" like the plague as if they know there will be a shitstorm should they reveal the truth. The dedicated servers that have been promised before the release of Gears of War 3 are either a lie or definitely not on par with today's standards.
Well only played a little bit in Gear of War 3 but from what I saw I would say that Halo is better.
Heads or tails?
Tough call.. I would go with the Halo series, but nowadays there are so much first person shooters...
Gears 3 Horde mode is what i am playing at the moment, Chainsaw is pretty cool.
I would pick..........Gears

Gears for me, it's one of the few console shooters I enjoy. Halo might come close if Halo 4 was on PC. For single player I'd probably pick Halo though, since Gears 1 thoroughly sucks and Gears 3's campaign wasn't anything great.
I'm afraid I can't do that, Star Fox.
Do a barrel roll.
I would have to go with Halo, due to the fact that Halo has a map creator/editor and a more interesting universe compared to Gears. Gears has...Horde mode and Marcus' bandanna.

Halo.
It was one of my childhood video games and I will treasure it forever.
