Thanks to the coming storm I don't get to take my niece to witchs woods tonight. So that sucks. I'm in north central massachusetts and around here it's suposed to be just that, a really bad storm but hopefully nothing too damaging. But still preparations have been made. Fingers crossed.

It's possible that Hurricane Sandy will hit Philadelphia, which is where Newgrounds is headquartered...

Might have to move those servers upstairs.

still maintains a warm core, but will transit into a extratropical low as it enters cooler water in a couple of days. wind field is very large. definetly one of the largest that i have seen in a while. no hurricane force winds are detected inside the circulation yet.

the exact location where it will hit land does not really matter. tropical storm force winds everywhere.

Work was cancelled for me tomorrow because Philadelphia and New Jersey public transportation has been shut down.

Seems like a bit of an overreaction, especially since all we have right now is some misty rain and a gentle breeze, but whatever.

Lets hope this pulls an Irene and completely passes us by.

NC were reporting it as though they've never been hit with a hurricane before. Approaching the closed door is proving to be scarier than what is actually behind it.

Ng'ers that live in the area should post before and after the hurrican hits land. That way we'll know who died.

For some reason, I always initially read that term incorrectly.

And for some other reason, I can see Fygar, when I invert this map:

You know shit is about to go down when the National Weather Service posts a bulletin like this (copy/paste which is the reason for all caps):

PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MOUNT HOLLY NJ
241 PM EDT SUN OCT 28 2012

..AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS STORM TO IMPACT THE AREA...

SANDY IS EXPECTED TO SLAM INTO THE NEW JERSEY COAST LATER MONDAY
NIGHT, BRINGING VERY HEAVY RAIN AND DAMAGING WINDS TO THE REGION.
THE STORM IS A LARGE ONE, THEREFORE DO NOT FOCUS ON THE EXACT CENTER
OF THE STORM AS ALL AREAS WILL HAVE SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS.

THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE AN HISTORIC STORM, WITH WIDESPREAD WIND
DAMAGE AND POWER OUTAGES, INLAND AND COASTAL FLOODING, AND MASSIVE
BEACH EROSION. THE COMBINATION OF THE HEAVY RAIN AND PROLONGED WIND
WILL CREATE THE POTENTIAL FOR LONG LASTING POWER OUTAGES AND SERIOUS
FLOODING.

PREPARATIONS SHOULD BE WRAPPING UP AS CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO
WORSEN TONIGHT AND ESPECIALLY ON MONDAY.

SOME IMPORTANT NOTES...

1. IF YOU ARE BEING ASKED TO EVACUATE A COASTAL LOCATION BY STATE
AND LOCAL OFFICIALS, PLEASE DO SO.

2. IF YOU ARE RELUCTANT TO EVACUATE, AND YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO RODE
OUT THE `62 STORM ON THE BARRIER ISLANDS, ASK THEM IF THEY COULD DO
IT AGAIN.

3. IF YOU ARE RELUCTANT, THINK ABOUT YOUR LOVED ONES, THINK ABOUT
THE EMERGENCY RESPONDERS WHO WILL BE UNABLE TO REACH YOU WHEN YOU
MAKE THE PANICKED PHONE CALL TO BE RESCUED, THINK ABOUT THE
RESCUE/RECOVERY TEAMS WHO WILL RESCUE YOU IF YOU ARE INJURED OR
RECOVER YOUR REMAINS IF YOU DO NOT SURVIVE.

4. SANDY IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS STORM. THERE WILL BE MAJOR
PROPERTY DAMAGE, INJURIES ARE PROBABLY UNAVOIDABLE, BUT THE GOAL IS
ZERO FATALITIES.

5. IF YOU THINK THE STORM IS OVER-HYPED AND EXAGGERATED, PLEASE ERR
ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION.

WE WISH EVERYONE IN HARMS WAY ALL THE BEST. STAY SAFE!

According to Wade this is one of the most powerful storms to ever exist so I hope that it does as well. I actually think some of the users here just shrugging it off should spend more time preparing their anuses.

Apparently the new track of the storm is just below Philadelphia - which is much worse for the New Jersey coast, but better for me in Philly.

Also, the storm has gained strength and now has winds up to 90mph.
