Fucks sake what is it with prepubescent children not knowing the definition of 'hacking'. Pick up a bloody dictionary.

Agreed. This little misanthrope needs to know definitions of Internet terms before he uses them
Hacking is logging into someone's else's account right?
Or is it?

Hacking- "Unauthorized attempts to bypass the security mechanisms of an information system or network." This is the accurate definition.

If you're not joking the dictionary definition is : To alter (a computer program) and To gain access to (a computer file or network) illegally or without authorization whereas OP 'hacked' it by info leaked by his friend.

Are they any computer literate? If not, you wouldn't have to worry.
Maybe there would be some way to remove your IP.
I've heard that breaking into someone's Facebook account (or any other kind of computer intrusion) is illegal and can get you in jail, but I don't know about your country.

Naming it hacking is similar to naming the reception of a key and the opening of the book which it unlocks, lockpicking.

Agreed. This little misanthrope needs to know definitions of Internet terms before he uses them

if you use a computer program to guess every possible password you are hacking
if you break past the websites security and get it there you are hacking
if you use an exploit you may be hacking
if you guess/know the password you haven't hacked
if you get a password by compiling personal info you are doxing

well, then, what's the correct word OP was supposed to use

replace "hacked" "read the dox and logged in to"

if you ask somebody for there password and you get a correct answer its not hacking

So I hacked someone's facebook = wrong
So I read the dox and logged in to someone's facebook = right

No, that's still hacking.

Doxing is leaking a person's private information to the internet. Dox is slang for "Documents".

sometimes said documents are already on the internet
however hacking techniques are often used to acquire more info

I'm pretty sure Dox, which can be both a verb and a noun, and means the action of acquiring a dossier.

Doxes are usually leaked after completion, but that isn't a necessity of a dox.

Right, but, hacking is an umbrella term to describe gaining entry through or around security measures. Most of the time, you do that by logging keystrokes, brute forcing passwords, gaining access to linked accounts, or social engineering.

If someone else just got her email password for you, gave it to you, and you were the one who stole her account with it, then it's still effectively the same. It's kinda like 'receiving stolen goods' or 'unlawful entry'.

paul broke into roberts house and stole his curly fries
paul gives joseph curly fries

that doesnt mean joseph stole the curly fries

paul is still the perpetrator

paul Hacked into roberts WEBSITE and stole his Password
paul gives joseph Password

that doesnt mean joseph hacked

paul is still the perpetrator

terms like spam and hack are often misused

but we need to remember the real meanings

I agree , I seriously hate the 'I've been hacked by my friend' threads in MMO forums when the person in question gave them their details in the first place to the 'hacker'.

The OP doesn't say how the third party got access to her email and password, but it certainly doesn't say "she gave us her password".

That doesn't make him the perpetrator of the hacking
granted he is manipulating data but that does not make him a hacker

if you are giving out the data you are asking for it
its like giggling your car keys and Shouting "look at my nice car i am going to leave my keys on the roof be right back"

why don't they just say there account has been stolen/compromised

No, it really does. Hacking is really just that simple: gain access to something without permission. It doesn't matter where you got the password, what matters is that you used it.

Do tell.

somebody drew it (DUH)
somebody uploaded it to a website may or may not be 4 chan
some people spamed it everywhere constantly
the fact that the joke can be applied to almost everything
and the fact that most people on line have nothing better to do
and they are alone forever they can all relate to it

Let's just say I have the original dox. All of them.

you claim to have data regarding the very first instance of forever alone
and possibly found an artist with an identical drawing style who may have been the creator
if you have a mere list of ip addresses the trail has gone cold considering the age of forever alone and isp address rotation by isp or changing companies

though your probably bullshitting
if you have evidence to prove you are the oracle of the forever alone meme
present it

It is, technically hacking. Hacking means unauthorised access, which that obviously is. Stealing details is one of the easiest ways of hacking is probably the easiest way of hacking something high-security. I can recall a famous case where a man hacked high-security computes by just stealing the details at his job and then just walking in.
