Can't sleep. I've been counting the days by the moon phases. Went out drinking. Came back and still can't sleep.

Fuck. It's been about two weeks on nights, and they give me the weekend off. Hughg

7 pm to 7 am. And since winter's coming in here up North, I work entirely in the dark.

Nightshift isn't good for you. Your body isn't naturally used to staying up during nighttime, and sleeping during the day. Your health has to suffer because of this. And it kills your social life.

The body is fine with staying up during the night. The big impact is mostly psychological. Without the light stimulus of the daytime light, mood is usually affected. However, since I stay up for a good portion of the day after my shift, I haven't noticed this.

Doesn't kill my social life, either. When working I can see people during the morning or evening and still sleep during the day. If I have a day off, I can go out drinking as per usual.

So you think you can't sleep because of the psychological impact?

No, I can't sleep because my circadian rhythm has been interrupted.

That.

Although its weird waking up to a backwards sunrise lol. Haven't noticed any psych changes yet though.

I envy you. I prefer night shifts over day time shifts.

I feel you, soon 7pm-7am will be all dark here also, albeit i don't always work that shift i do work nights a lot. it's a far cry from working nights in july, where it's dawn at around 5 am.

I don't work nights and I'm already feeling the effects of decreased sunlight exposure(and I work outdoors). I can only imagine what you night shifters are going to feel like once winter gets here!

I prefer to work at night. I always function much better at night, and I'm also more happy at night.

amphetamines and xanax are completely different things m8

in fact they're pretty much exact opposites

Sunlight has a physical impact on humans as well. Vitamin D, Melanin, etc.

I don't think that staying up all night is good for your physical or mental state.

I'm doing night shifts now. I made the mistake this weekend of sleeping earlier than I should (as I had it off). Now its 1am I'm working till 9 and my eyes are alreeady going. I'm not fully used to these times yet.

Never worked 3rd shift. My uncle did though and he didn't like it too much.
