Everyone works differently; each of us has our own patterns and habits when it comes to animation. What I want to know is what is your process? From coming up with the initial idea - to uploading your final product on newgrounds. What works best for you?
For example, I've noticed that my proudest animations are ones that were pre-lanned; rather then spontaneous. Additionally, whenever I have all of my audio completed and ready before I start at frame one and begin animating my flash almost always comes out better.
Do you prefer to storyboard, create detailed animatics, write, character design, or just hop right into it when making an animation?

Sometimes the audio goes after the animation. It depends.
Mine changes a lot depending on the project but I usually do something like this:
send script to voice actor(s)
meanwhile create animatic
once I get the voice track I start animating
add in any additional sound effects and/or visual effects
export from Flash
