Seems like they're running out of good names for horror movies and games. Why not just put revelation at the end of everything? Resident evil: revelations. Silent hill: revelation. Saw 19: the revelation!

feeling quite uninspired today

I used to like the Silent Hill movie. Then I played the games and realized it's a total abomination, and this film looks just as shit. Anything Silent Hill outside the first 4 games is a stain on the series.

The first film was ass, and the games have been consistently ass for years now. I don't have much hope for this.

The first movie sucked donkey ass through a straw, but I hope this one is better. It's suppose to be based on the third game since it stars Heather Mason.

I'm also looking forward to this year's Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios since it's going to be Silent Hill based.

They made a completely new character instead of copy pasting one to please annoying fans. Seems good to me.

they turned a good, complex character into a teenage heartthrob

change isn't always good, the Silent Hill movies are a perfect example of this

Yeah how dare they put an interesting complex character in a movie. Let's have him be boring, generic, and completely forgettable instead!

I liked the first movie, but my experience with the game it was based on is limited to the multi-issue strategy guide for it in the first run of Playstation Magazine. I was psyched, and thus pleased with the movie version. I still want to play the game, because of the movie.

This movie doesn't look anywhere near as good as the first, and depending on whether you liked that one or not... no, depending nothing. Looks dreadful no matter what side you're on.

To be honest I liked the atmosphere, based on what I saw in the trailers.

I'm not expecting it to scare me or be a great movie but I think I'm going to enjoy it.

It used to be a fad/gimmicky, but now it's just the standard in the industry.
I think we can expect all movies to be in 3D in around 5 years.

The only good video game movies in existence are the Resident Evil movies. They do a better job at plots and character development than any of the games. Every other movie based on a game is shit.

Although the Tomb Raider movie wasn't that bad, to be honest. Still, it wasn't great either.

You're forgetting the first Mortal Kombat.

I've seen a playthrough of Silent Hill 1, watched the cutscenes from Silent Hill 2 and 3, and played Origins and Shattered Memories, so I know a bit about Silent Hill. All things considered, this movie doesn't look good at all. The first film had a poor script and mediocre acting, plus the plot changes opened up a bunch of holes. I'm fine with the movie not being canon, but unless they can explain the inconsistencies that the film translation opened, changing the plot only worsens things.

The one thing I did like about the Silent Hill movie is that it was more about the story than the 'scare' factor, which I think is really important. Hopefully that will carry over to the sequel.
