I find I seem to write my posts as if I were the characters I see while typing, for example currently I find myself speaking the words I write in the voice and thoughts of the blue Castlecrasher I see on the left of the screen, or rather how I would perceive it's character was from the visual impact. In a way similar to how people usually read posts in the voice of the user's avatar, but instead of just reading it actually posting with the mindset.
Does anyone else do this? Or am I just strange like that?
Not really. I mainly just do as you mentioned, and imagine the words being said in the voice of the icon beside the post (if it is a character at all). The background art never really comes into the process for me.

Yeah, I don't really do that either, at least not consciously. I can see why others might though. The forums are relatively anonymous with your only real identification being your profile. It is easy to fall into the pattern of acting like a character as opposed to acting like yourself. It is as though the internet is just one massive RPG.
