I look forward to this every year. It's challenging to find interesting things I haven't sen ebfore. A couple of years ago I sud this as an excuse to see the latter half of the elmstreet series since growing up I'd always been a Jason man.
As far as planning. I'm not planning much. I have a could of dvds for slow days but mainly I'm going to see what the tv and in demand have for me. This is awesome.

The 31 Days of Horror Challenge is an event starting October 1st and ending October 31st. The object is for horror fans to watch one horror movie a day, every day in October. This is a great excuse to overindulge on your horror fixation and find new movies you may not have seen before. :)

I'd love to try this but I don't think I could manage 31 movies in a month, let alone a whole year.
God speed to those who are. I might do 1 week though at the end of October.

OP mentioned Army of Darkness, so I guess we could let Ghostbusters slide.

I remember Samhain from the Real Ghostbusters.

He tried to make Halloween night last forever.

Best holloween Film ever. Infact, it's one of my favorite horror movies as well. Sam is just so delightfully disturbing as well.

I just LOVE how it all comes together at the end.

I was kind of disappointed in it because I expected something like Halloween two or the first. However, once I realized that it's a completely separate movie (I would call it more sci-fi if anything) I started to enjoy it.

I keep seeing that on Netflix and meaning to watch it. Isn't it black comedy though, rather than horror?

Yeah, I had no clue it was black comedy until the demon was actually summoned. It's black comedy and is actually quite funny. I think I'm going to do go From A bit scary/funny--->Shitstain scary by the 31st. It makes it much easier and helps me find movies that are scarier/ess scary.

loved REC going to re-watch it on the later days of the challenge, also loved Cnnibal holocaust and Dawn of the dead. Didn't really like the Blob myself.

Check out Zombi 2 if you liked cannibal holocaust

Started out with Army of Darkness today. Wasn't as scary as the first two Evil Dead films, but I had a blast watching it. This movie is quotable as all Hell.

My first flick for this was the number 23. For a jim carrey thriller it's not as bad as I've heard. the plot is more than a little convoluted but the acting an the imagry are all great. Not a film I regret seeing. Only 30 to go.

The real scary part? Jim Carey could have been making good movies this whole time!!

How can you be so good at being subtle and suspenseful yet base your career on butt jokes and funny faces??? HOW, JIM!?!?

The man loves comedy and despite appearances, comedy isn't easy. You're on the internet, you've seen people fail at it.

I'm watching Prometheus on the computer since it's not on DVD yet, it's a great film but it's all to fresh in my mind to be that exciting. Still can't wait for the rest of the months challenge though.

I just watched "Day of the Triffids", from 1962.

A meteor shower creates a colorful spectacle in the sky. This event causes two problems. It leaves everybody who watched the event stuck blind, and brings to earth a race of man-eating killer plants.

I give it 7 out of 10.

Quite good.

Nine Dead
Hellraiser
The Human Centipede
Dead Snow
Parents
Nightmare on Elm Street 2
(At this moment Day 7 is a wild card.)

Movies you guys should check out:
The Signal
Feast
Dreamcatcher (Sci-fi mostly but still cool)
Dahmer
The Thing
They Live (Kick ass and chew bubble gum)

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure sucks ass.

The Ten Steps.

This is a short horror film called The Ten Steps. It's ten minutes long, and I'd say it's definitely worth a watch.
