31 Days of Horror Challenge 2012! Sep. 29th, 2012 @ 04:58 PM Reply

We're back once again, Newgrounds!

The 31 Days of Horror Challenge is an event starting October 1st and ending October 31st. The object is for horror fans to watch one horror movie a day, every day in October. This is a great excuse to overindulge on your horror fixation and find new movies you may not have seen before. :)

Sounds fun, eh? Well, let's do this!

2011 Thread

2010 Thread

So let's start our lists. Here's my week one. I'm gonna tr to keep my month open and just watch a bunch of Netflix movies.

1. Evil Dead (I watch it every year! :D)
2. Evil Dead 2 (can't just watch the first alone, right..?)
3. Army of Darkness (I have an addiction...)
4. Sinister (looks new and scary!)
5. Cabin in the woods (looks like the new version of Scream)
6. Funny Games (got that Murder By Numbers kid in it)
7. The Exorcist (classic :P)

What are you gonna watch, Newgrounds? :)

Black Death.

It's one of the better historical horror films out there.

I'm gonna try to do this this year. Should be fun.

Question: Would the two Ghostbusters movies be okay to watch? I know they're not exactly "Horror", but I do feel like they fit the vibe of the month.

2 hours every day set aside for a movie? Damn, that's difficult.

Maybe I'll try and watch a few over the weekend so my weekly total is 7.

This is my view right now, as well. As awesome as the last two years were - I really don't think I will have the time to do this again a third year in a row... I definitely will not be able to do 31, but I will squeeze some time in for a flick here and there.

Yeah, whatever.

Looking into buying all the Friday the 13th movies soon to complete with my collection of Elm Street. I have a few great Stephen King films I watch, next to the zombie movies I already own. I need to add Dawn of the Dead and few others too to the stack. Been making my horror movie collection for a few years.

I'll probably be doing it again this year, I've always enjoyed watching a lot of horror movies as Halloween approaches. Not sure what I'll be watching, I'll have to try to find some horror movies on Netflix that I haven't seen before, but I do know a few I'll definitely be rewatching like The Exorcist and The Shining.

At 9/29/12 07:10 PM, DeIirium wrote: Even if I had the time I wouldn't be able to find that many horror films actually worth watching.

It depends on your taste. I can usually enjoy a cheesy B movie horror or an old classic monster movie and there are plenty of them. However, there are some that I can't stand watching like a lot of the new exorcism or ghost movies (by "ghost" I mean movies where terrible actors pretend to be making a documentary about a haunted house or some shit like this movie) they've came out with which just have me rolling my eyes or shaking my head. Plenty of teen slasher movies annoy me as well. It's pretty easy to find enjoyable horror movies though, as long as you're not too picky or unless you're just not a fan of horror in general.

Not all movies watched on Halloween have to be horror movies. They just have to have that Halloween vibe. Halloween is more than just scary, it's fun!

Yes to ZJ's question though I would consider both Ghostbusters movies to fit that Halloween vibe. I also forgot one for my list and I am kicking myself for forgetting it.

It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!

Oh and The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror will be coming on October 7th. I know a lot of people say The Simpsons aren't doing so hot, but they never disappoint when it comes to Treehouse of Horror.

Since I had trouble last year going from watching 90's horror flicks to 60's horror flicks I'm going to be lining up my first week with all the more modern horror films then go more classic as the month goes on. Here's my week one:

1. Promethus
2. Cabin in the Woods
3. The Wolfman (hey I liked it)
4. Cloverfield
5. The Blair Witch Project
6. Scream
7. Scream 2
