actual skinhead music is pretty awful (see skrewdriver), but there are some decent national socialist/social darwinist/fascist groups/artists (von thronstahl, boyd rice, a challenge of honour, blood axis etc)
none of it comes close to the glory of rap music, but it can be fun

Rappers have suspension of disbelief, skinhead music really doesn't.
It's easy to listen to 'i kill bitches on the daily' or some retarded shit like that and write it off, but when you hear a skinhead talk about killing black people or whatever the fuck that music is going on about they are being connected to real acts of racism and hate crimes and shit. That, and intelligent rap has actually become popular in some cases which gives rapping more credibility than skinhead music which remains a more obscure and far less championed genre.
When I hear "Rapper," I don't necessarily think "womanizing murderer drug addict," but when I hear "Skinhead" I do think "Racist," as a rule.
Skinheads were around before Oi! and I believe loved Ska and Reggae. Maybe Lovers Rock too. Anywhoo, yeah, Oi! came along eventually and Rock Against Communism.
There are many Rap acts with a positive message. Not Gangsta Rap for the most part - not on a social level. The thing about Gangsta Rap is that it is usually full of bragadoccio and optimism about rising above your social level. Gangsta Rap is basically Thatcherism.

FInally! Someone who actually knows what they're talking about. It annoys me that people instantly assume skinheads are white supremacists, neo-Nazis or whatever else you want to label them. The guys that you'd slap those labels on hijacked a sub-culture that wasn't theirs, brought bad media to it and now when you hear the word "skinhead" you think of bad people. White supremacists, neo-Nazis and so called red skins aren't real skinheads. Never were, never will be. They just latched onto a scene that they thought was cool.
But yea, as far as I'm concerned (seeing as it's mainly what I listen to) 80's skinhead Oi! is better than rap in my opinion, for the most part anyway.

I personally like rap and never heard "skinhead" music due to growing up around more of an urban setting. People around here listen to alot of mainstream music. I enjoy it as well.
