Anyway, Im a Xbox360 console fag and was wondering if anyone knew any good Horror games at all. I like playing pc indie horrors aswell.
Well, just to list a few, these are the ones that I have played.
SCP Containment Breach
The House 2
Paranormal
Slender (and any mods, e.g. elementary, museum, mansion, etc.)
Dead Space (not really as focused on horror as it is story)
I suppose if you like older-looking games, you could try out Ao Oni. It seems like it would offer a pretty scary experience as well. Most of those I listed are pretty good. The House is just a mod of Half Life, and everything else aside from Dead Space is indie developed.
Slender, Dead Space, an even Doom is a game I've always thought could be quite horrific. I find House of the Dead: Overkill quite enjoyable as well.
Horror is actually a genre that I've never really found myself playing much. I think the only horror games I have are Resident Evil, Code Veronica and Resident Evil 4. I've played a little of Resident Evil and I found it to be more jumpy than scary and even the jumpy bits seemed few and far between. A shat myself when the dogs jumped over the fence and started attacking me. Admittedly I didn't make much progress so probably didn't experience much of the scary stuff.
If the movie was anything to go by, Silent Hill seems like it might be quite scary but I've not played those at all. I have a demo for the original with my copy of MGS but I never got around to trying it out.

I do recommend the original Silent Hill game. The horror value is something that will never be ruined due to its imagery that you've never seen like before. Even just facing monsters I may have killed many times in my previous playthroughs I still find to be squeezing the weapon aim button hard the moment I hear the radio ringing to inform me that enemies are nearby.

Pfft.
Kidding, but in all seriousness, I recommend the Penumbra series.
I to second this gent's opinion. Also, Eternal Darkness if you can find it.

Silent Hill 2
After this game, nothing else with satiate you.
House of the Dead. That game was really absurd, but really scary.

Typing of the Dead 2 is the best in the series.
I would go with Silent Hill 2 myself as others have mentioned above, it truly is an atmospheric game that doesn't really try to scare you like other games would but in the end it ends up making you far more paranoid and anxious and scared than most modern games. Just walking around the lifeless town and dark hallways provides an atmosphere that really does dig into you the longer you play it, not to mention the fact the characters all seem to not give a shit about you and you are unsure if James even cares what happens.
As for more scary games, Fatal Frame series especially 1 and 2 are fucking scary, the scene when you fall in the well in Fatal Frame and are fleeing for your life from Kirie without the camera is truly the stuff of nightmares.
Resident Evil games are good for the occasional shock horror and generally being an enjoyable series of games to play, however if looking for scares you should go elsewhere.

I don't play horror games, Mainly because 99.99% of all the horror games i see now, are zombie games. Zombie games are clogging up the gaming industry like a severed arm in a sink garbage disposal. I mean there are some good zombie titles, (Dead island, and left 4 dead for example). But most of them are just repetitive. Like run shoot zombies, run, reload, find ammo, run, shoot zombies, rinse and repeat. This is my preference and i just wanted to say it. Continue on

1: not horror
2: good =/= dead island

Play Cry of Fear. Fun game, even if it's a HalfLife mod (You wouldn't be able to tell while playing it). I think to run it you just need HalfLife installed (Which you do if you have CounterStrike 1.6)
I'm not spending more time on this than I have to.
