Building Collaboration

Hey there, art forum. How are you folks here?

I've been lurking for a while looking for an Art Collab but there aren't any so I kinda decided to host one.

I know that I'm not a great artist, not even good, decent at least but you guys are.

The Idea of the 'Building' is to, bassically, 'build' a building.

Like, Let's say, *User1* Makes one floor of the building and it's placed above the floor made by *User47*.
Pretty simple. Anyway, I've set up a little 'template'.
The template includes the building colour and a basic outline of the floor, where you draw, ofcourse.

The link to the floor image. #878282 is the non-shaded colour.

It's not the best template. But it's really, everything you need.

Now, here is some stuff I think is important:

1. I'll make the beggining, someone should volounteer for the top.
2. You can go outside the template with your drawings.
3. Save as .PNG, upload to the dump and link it here or send it in a pm to me.
4. Send me your logo as a png/ flash cs3 fla in a pm too, or link here.

And, I guess, I need to have a logo at the opening of the thread:

Not too sure I've got this right but your asking for something kind of like the totem pole collab that was about (but didn't work) around a year ago? If so I'm not sure the end product would look any good. I'm going to wait and see what other people think before I make anything for this.

Nah come on, let's don't be silly. If you think of a skyscraper you initially think of a grey concrete building. That's not copying, that's just not very original.

I would love to have another collab in the art forum. I like the idea, but I am not sure if you really thought out everything. Are you going to do the flash? Your template isn't telling me all that much. All I see is a solid grey color. Optimally your template should have grey in the place where the building should be and another color (blue?) "outside" of that. That way you would also determine the total width of the flash. I mean how can we draw outside of the template if we don't know how much space is there "outside"?

Thanks for clarifying that. That means 700px total with 300px for the building and 200px on each side. It's easier if everybody gets clear instructions and numbers, right? ;)

Seeing as this seems like it might just get off the ground I might have a go at making something. Think I'm going to go for a heavily graffitied section or something along those lines.

Oh and, try to fix up the colour a bit. You can see what colour it is at the op.

Also, this: You can, ofcouse, youse other colours but the beggining and the ending of the floor must have the template colour.

Okay, just had a little test. It works well, just make some kind of a transition with the colour so it can loop nicely. The size can stay the same. Also I need a .png of the picture and a .png of your some kind of logo/signature.

IMPORTANT: You can change the height of the floor but not the width.

...this is why I wanted you to do the first level before I started anything. No offense to what mrfap did, but to me it looks wrong... or is the whole building only 12 feet across? One room wide? I was going to do 3 or 4 windows spanning the area. That means mrfap's dead guy is really a dead giant or my people will be midgets. There should be *some* kind of continuity to the scale on each level or it's going to look silly.

So, I think I'll keep waiting until I see how yours looks before I do anything :P

Oh, I see your point.

To be honest, I don't think any people will complain since I will do my best to make those floors as seperate as possible. Even if they were close to each other people probably won't complain since it's a collab.

I think some of the interest has gone from this collab due to some confusion on scale. Is the template you gave the end all be all? Is it just a section of the building floor, one window of one floor, a one floor window, etc? There needs to be a solid answer if people can go outside of the building and if so to what dimensions on the x axis or if the building is the only work space? I think if some things are more defined and made clear, then a lot more people will hop on board. Just let us know my friend!

I think it's also failing because CrazyRock hasn't contributed anything more than a gray rectangle. He needs to post his progress.
