3.93 / 5.00 4,634 ViewsWhen I ask people what their favorite genre of music is, I usually expect something conventional, like rock or rap. Rarely do I ever hear someone say reggae.
In addition, if I ask someone if they like reggae they typically say they don't really listen to any of it outside of Bob Marley, which disappoints me a bit because it's one of my favorite genres. Leading me to ask,
Does anyone here listen to reggae regularly, or 'follow' it as a whole? Is it by some slim chance your favorite genre?
Out of curiosity more than anything else, I want to see how many of you follow reggae outside of the big hits everyone knows (again, Bob Marley). I love Bob Marley but I wonder if any of you listen to the other great artists of the genre like Peter Tosh, Steel Pulse, Buju Banton, Shelly Thunder and many more.
So who here really likes reggae?
Reggae is fucking boring, I guess that means I don't like it.

I have three Bob Marley albums. I have Burnin' Rastaman Vibration, and Exodus. And I have a few dub songs. That's about it. My favorite Marley song is Johny Was.
You sound like you've listened to reggae for about a month. I love reggae and all but it's just another genre of music and to be obsessed about it is just as annoying as not liking it at all.
As a sidenote my friend is in a reggae band called The Reggae Pirates which is just an awesome name

I have never been in a jungle. Only temperate forests.
I cannot comment.

Pretty good at the right time, but you may aswell listen to dub, the type of music which has reggae roots and was half the basis for the original dubstep. Enjoy man.

Are you on about proper dubstep or brostep? If youre on about brostep I advise you to stop listening to dub immediately, and music in general.

Yeah its a really horrible kind of fandom about it, let alone the music.
First I got really into ska. Ska is one of my top favourite genres because I find a lot of good music in it. I started getting into reggae and stopped listening to much ska because it was easier to find reggae. I am a big reggae fan and early reggae/ska fan.

I get a little disappointed that over half of dubstep fans don't know about dub. I mean I'm not expecting them to be musical doctors but they could at least know that there'd be no Skrillex without Scratch Perry.

I usually just call it all dub but he is a favourite. A master.

I meant reggae. Dub, that hiphop inspired stuff, some rocksteady whatever. I call them all reggae.
