I have an idea and direction for a game but have no idea how to program or code one. I'm going for a 3D open world game kinda like minecraft but with a more realistic art direction and and a story too it.
Any help at all would be amazing.

So let me get this straight: you want to make an open-world 3D game (probably multiplayer) and you have no experience with coding?

there's quite a few things wrong with that, and honestly i'm not sure where to begin pointing out the flaws.

let's make a simile:
That's like someone telling you they want to do neurosurgery, but all they did was watch medical soaps (such as House)
Would you trust them to operate on your brain?

using that simile, the most obvious thing you should do is grab some medical equipment and learn how to use it.

Get a C++ compiler and learn how to code.
OOP (Object-Oriented Programming) is a good starting point.

Programming stuffs (tutorials and extras)
PM me (instead of MintPaw) if you're confuzzled.
thank Skaren for the sig :P

You should start small and then go to more advanced project after a while. I remember I was just like you: Going to start building a big and awesome 3D-game.... hehe.

Only advice I can give you: Start small!

In my experience it's because they know little to nothing about programming. They just don't realise the colossal amount of work it takes to make a game like Minecraft.
They think it's like playing with legos when actually it's like constructing a house.

Im sorry but if you want to do this on flash then have a good few years on self taught and book smarts down on yourself first about actionscript but if your doing it on any other programs then i cant judge because iv only ever used flash so i would say to you is have a good few years ov making some simplistic ... mabay even 2d games then make it up to full 3d coding and making models and stuff...
or you can always look up tutorials ;P
