Who thinks that this whole MTV Choose or Lose thing has a little bit of political background beihnd it? I mean who thinks that the MTV Choose or Lose people have a certain politically motivated position, and they try to put it in there somewhere? Not that I think that, I'm just trying to open a forum for conspiracy theorists.

MTV does it's best to keep the youth of America (who don't really give a fuck) knowledge about the canidates, and it may help teens go out and vote. The problem? Most kids who think "stupidity is cool" (i.e. the entire TRL crowd...) just find some canidate who has like, one issue that interest them, and vote for him! Perfect example: Bush. He is a moron, an idiot, a fool, a numbskull, a crackhead, a drunk, a disgrace to the Republican party, a dumbass who doesn't even know what his own plans are! And guess what? He got a bunch of support from youth. Don't get me wrong, I think everyone who can should vote. I just don't want it to do more harm than good.

My view is that bastadizing politics so it sounds fun to kids is retarded, People should not be encouraged to vote! If their too damn stupid to stand up for their beleifs then let them!
I think the pinnicle of my disgust occured when Bill CLinton was asked what type of underwear he wears on national television. What the fuck? Some little bitch thought she was cute making a dumbass question like that, if kids want to play around like that, go ahead but bastardizing politics into pop culutre just to get votes is quite the biggest degradation to modern society!

You think they actually have well thought-out views that have any grounding?

Everything on MTV seems slanted, much like the mainstream media, towards democratic causes.
These include:
Capital punishment for the unborn
Racism
Anti-freedom of speech
affirmative action
indecency
hypocrisy
anti-capitalism
anti-workers
pro-welfare
gender roles are unnatureal but homosexuality is?

You mean Abortion...
Racism
Yes it does, especially in the early days.
Anti-freedom of speech
MTV censors all sorts of shit they don't have to...
affirmative action
Maybe...
indecency
I take it you're pro-censorship...
hypocrisy
Very much so! They show the Matthew Shepard movie, then play the homophobic Eminem.
anti-capitalism
MTV uses mind control tactics, so I could see it...
anti-workers
Don't see it...
pro-welfare
They did show Old Dirty Bastard cash a welfare check...
gender roles are unnatureal but homosexuality is?
I hate to be the one to break it to you, but yes it is... people are born Gay or Straight.

There's nothing wrong with rockin' the vote. college kids are lazy, like most teens are. So if there's a big van that shows up to the dorm to get people to vote, I don't see anything wrong with that. Its kind of lie the ice cream truck. I'm not even hungry for ice cream but when that truck comes around I can't help but buy something because it was just there. So if MTV wants to make voting convienent, more power to them. Like they say...every vote counts...even if it wasn't decided on intelligently. I wonder if we would have the same president if all the people who didn't bother to vote, voted.

Choose or Lose is a Democratic-leaning program, because the Democrats are more responsive to MTV's issues (including spending for the arts). It's like how Fox News Channel is a conservative-leaning network.
Besides, remember how Bush and Clinton were portrayed in 92 by Choose or Lose? Clinton was easy-going and willing to talk to young people. Bush was out of touch, and seemed unwilling to answer Tabitha Soren's questions. It's supposed to be biased. It's their way to get interest articulation, the way they tell the government what they want.

People voting just to vote is ridiculous. I'd rather hear that people didn't vote than that they voted "just because." My cousin didn't vote in the last presidential election, because she couldn't be bothered with it. She didn't know the issues or the candidates, so she opted out.
OK, so we have the right to vote, that doesn't make it mandatory. After the last mayoral election in Philly, I overheard plenty of people bragging about their voting for Street "just because" he is black. Big fucking deal! I didn't vote for him because he is an idiot. I know plenty of other people (of varying races) who also didn't vote for him, because he is an idiot. But people turned out in increasing numbers, just to vote for the man. Pft.
It's idiots like that that make me favor a voting license.
Quote of the day: @Nysssa "What is the word I want to use here?" @freakapotimus "Taint".

Gameboy: I don't think you can conclusively say people are born one way or the other. Show me the gene for homosexuality or heterosexuality.

Hormones, dude. Gays have more female hormones than the average male. This causes an attraction to the same gender. Plus, most gays act different from birth. I know this one gay guy (or I knew him) who used to play with his sister's Barbie dolls when he was a kid. That's my evidence!

I agree whole-heartedly.
