Best and worst conspiracy theories

So, I'm sure we're all aware that ever since government, large corporations, and the like have existed people have enjoyed spreading rumors about them.

One of my favorites is some dumb conspiracy theory involving the US government developing a poison that only targets black people because blah blah blah...Can't remember the whole thing but I remember it getting a laugh out of me with all the weird details and 'proof'.

So what are some of the best, worst, and best-worst conspiracy theories, Newgrounds?

The worst one for me was the one regarding the illuminati and their control over the music industry and the government. Someone shoot me. This spread and hit highly influential douchebags all around my school and I've never heard of the end of this stupid myth since.

The best is probably the one where the US are going to start planning terrorist attacks on their own so Osama can take the blame and they get to infiltrate Iraq.

Best: Illuminati - which leads to all other sub conspiracy theories such as 9/11 was an inside job, Aurora shooting was carried out by the feds, tin foil hat (WTF?), feds hide alien bodies and New World Order.

Worst: Flat Earth Theory - some people still believe our planet is a flat surface. Head to desk...

Yes Area 51 exists, but not for the reasons that the conspiracy theorists think, which they think aliens. Oh and whenever they're told the TRUTH, they say "yeah it could be that... OR [b][IMPLICATION][/b]

I wouldn't call it my favorite one, but the most common conspiracy theory I've learned about was that in the 80's, the CIA formed and cultivated the AIDS virus to kill the homosexual population of the U.S. True fact that when they "caught on" to the disease (in 1982, the year I was born Woohoo!), it started out being known as GRIDS (gay related immune deficiency syndrome) until it spread not only to gays, but to straight people as well, and then it was renamed AIDS. Supposedly they also have a cure for it (or had before it changed it's original programming) but they won't give it out because they are too afraid of the consequences.

Yes it is, it is actually where secret aircraft is tested. That's as much as one can know. People who work at Area 51 are usually flown there from Las Vegas and then flown back home after work.

I don't know about the best conspiracy theories I've ever heard, partly because I usually either laugh at them for their stupidity or pity them because they have no life. But the worst definitely has to be anything that says that the government is taking away our rights and freedoms for security or counter-terrorism and other such bullshit. The worst part of is that they are not only ironic, but horribly inaccurate as well, which is rather common from conspiracy nuts and the politically ignorant.

It has been debunked so many times, and yet there are people who still cling to that very belief, even when it's obvious that it's not true.
