Ensemble Emulation?

Ensemble Emulation? 2012-09-11 13:37:31 Reply

This might be interesting to discuss besides, I'm trying to figure it out:

How would you emulate multiple instruments? (Like make one vocal,trumpet,violin,etc. sound like an ensemble or mass of instruments.)

Reverb is a possible solution, but only makes the instrument sound like it's in a room (of course).
I tried layering multiple instruments, but they seem not to get louder,( it only eats up my CPU :P )

Any of you figured this "enigma"?
