Favorite Video Game Music!

I wasn't sure whether to put this in the video game forum or the audio forums, but I figured this would be more appropriate here. So what is your favorite video game music? Some of my favorites are from Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 and all of the zelda games. Pretty much any song made my nintendo just really gets to me. What about you guys?

The mother series has great music...it's mostly ambient/electronic, but it's sooo good

Zelda is awesome...especially the N64 games...really, Koji Kondo's work despite his limitations...amazing. Not only did he make something great, like SMB theme, but he did it on a shitty computer chip. Amazing.

FF 3/6 has some good tunes

And Sonic 1, 2 and 3...holy smoke. Had it not been for Sonic 1, 2 and 3, I might not even be a musician today

Also, Metroid (the 2d ones) are stunning.

It's not that the Prime series (and other modern games) didn't have good music, but it's just not as impressive to me as composing equally complex and moving music on an 8-bit chip. Moving people with an orchestra is easy...moving them with oscillators...that's a challenge

This place is for discussion of the creation not appreciation of music. But heck, I'll add my opinion anyway :3.

First place goes to Zelda music for being amazing. I love all of the Metroid music (except Other M because since when did Other M have music). Oh and Okami for sure, Super Mario Galaxy, Journey, some of the Skyrim soundtrack, some Final Fantasy music, a lot of the Brawl music, and I sometimes listen to the Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz and de Blob soundtrack now and again. I love video game music.

I find it funny that only one person has said that the Kingdom Hearts soundtrack is good. It's more than good - the Kingdom Hearts games have some of the best music I've ever heard in video games.

The music from simcity 2000 -4000 is fucking incredible.

The pause menu tune for the PS2 game Ico is brilliantly peaceful.
Same with the menu music for GTA BOGT, I used to fall asleep to it all the time haha.
The entire Tony Hawk franchise showed me great music while growing up, as well.
